OK, I am starting this new thread to get the message across. Sack all the Fox Soccer Channel producers, schedule presenters, audio, VT and control room staff.
I don't care if the FSC control room is in Beverly Hills, Houston or bleedin' China, if in the year of 2008, these buffoons at FSC cannot get their act together, they should not be paid. These people should not be in a job, and certainly not presenting anything to do with our great sport of soccer.
HOW MANY TIMES DO WE SEE THE PREMIER LEAGUE REVIEW SHOW AND BEFORE THE HIGHLIGHTS OF A PARTICULAR GAME ARE COMPLETE, THEN THE FRIGGIN FINAL SCORE IS FLASHED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN????
Tonight, again, I'm watching the Everton vs Sunderland highlights and the score is 1-0 and then without knowing the final score, the rest of the game is ruined by the fact I see the final 3-0 scoreline flash in that STUPID TICKER they keep using at the bottom of the screen.
GREAT!!! Now I can't even get excited for Sunderland to come back. If Cisse takes a shot, no problem, he lost 3-0 so there is no chance he is going to score. Thanks FSC. Way to keep me entertained.
Look at the logic folks...
We are watching the HIGHLIGHTS of each Premier League game. That means every piece of action is going to be something exciting to watch, like a shot, save, challenge or goal.
So why the F... do we need to have this action spoiled by a ticker at the bottom of the screen???????
Years past, they used this Ticker to blaze stupid ads from different companies trying to sell us gear. That was annoying and had to be stopped. Then some half-wit thought, hey, why not advertise future FSC programs on the ticker, endless scores of games from that weekend and now even snippets of transfer news.
WHAT A MORONIC IDEA!!!
We are watching a highlight show. Why the heck would we be interested in seeing the final scores of the games before we see the highlights of those games???
Why would an interview with a coach or player be interrupted by a stupid commercial, and then on returning, go back to that same interview. This is the worst editing/scheduling on television.
This is the age of digital TV. We all have digital remotes and menu guides. So if I want to know what is on FSC for the rest of the week, I go to my guide and look at the week's programming. We do not need to have every show's date and time blazed at the bottom of the screen, spoiling the action with a minimized screen.
If they want to plaster scores and news on the bottom of the screen then do it during Football Asia or Premier League World when the scores of the Premier League games do not mess with what we are watching. HELLO!!!!
This is all due to the most pathetic sports TV staff in the nation.
If you feel the same about these fools at FSC then please let them know at:
comments@foxsoccer.com
It's time the national soccer community had professional people at work presenting and broadcasting our sport to us. Not these amateurs.

News flash. You are watching a *Highlights* show. These shows presume you know the outcome of games, and are tyuning in for a review of the day's action.
Another news flash: If you don't like what is on the tickers at the bottom of the screen, there is a secret technique you can employ, namely, *Don't read the ticker*.

It's a highlight show...do you really put that much emotion into 45 seconds of a match highlight, that revealing the score before the last 10 seconds is complete completely ruins it for you?

Holy crap, the OP is complaining that a HIGHLIGHTS show is giving away results?
What a moron.

Isn't the Premier League Review Show produced by the Premier League, not FSC? I thought it was created by the EPL and then FSC bought the rights to show it in North America like Sky Sports News, EPL Preview Show, EPL World Show and the actual EPL games.

If they changed the title to "Premier League Review Show [R]" would that solve the problem?

I still don't understand what value FSC thinks they are adding by delaying the boadcasts 3-5 minutes just to have Keith Costigan overuse the nicknames of the clubs and show their mind-numbing 1995 graphics.
I'm sure whoever came up with their new graphic of arrows to show which way each team is attacking scored himself a raise and promotion.

First of all, I am playing devil's advocate. Of course I knew the scores from the games, I watch most of them live or tape delay. The point is, some days I don't. I come in from games every weekend and may not have seen a particular match and wait for the Sunday highlights to catch up, rather than reading about it online. The action may only be some seconds, but like one match I did miss live, it was great to see Fulham tie Chelsea in the dying minutes. That was thrilling. Had I seen the score on the stupid ticker, I would not have got the same thrill.
I am sure you go to movies having read the entire synopsis and ending before you actually watch the story. Well, I don't. I enjoy letting the movie or match take me for a ride.
Now to the point. THERE IS NO NEED FOR A BLOODY TICKER DURING A HIGHLIGHT SHOW!!!
It's the pure amateurism of presenting our sport that makes me sick.
If FSC just let SKY Sports run LIVE every day, there would be no issue from me and I suspect anyone else. That is because they are professionals at what they do. FSC are not, and as a soccer community we should not accept rank amateurism in the broadcasting of our sport.
If the NFL, NBA and MLB can get world class coverage every day, then we deserve world class coverage of the Premier League, LIVE, delayed or highlighted. Simple!

The show is entitled "The Premier League Review Show."
Perhaps your problem is that you don't know what the word "review" means. The definitions in bold text below are relevant.
Review
–noun
1. a critical article or report, as in a periodical, on a book, play, recital, or the like; critique; evaluation.
2. the process of going over a subject again in study or recitation in order to fix it in the memory or summarize the facts.
3. an exercise designed or intended for study of this kind.
4. a general survey of something, esp. in words; a report or account of something.
5. an inspection or examination by viewing, esp. a formal inspection of any military or naval force, parade, or the like.
6. a periodical publication containing articles on current events or affairs, books, art, etc.: a literary review.
7. a judicial reexamination, as by a higher court, of the decision or proceedings in a case.
8. a second or repeated view of something.
9. a viewing of the past; contemplation or consideration of past events, circumstances, or facts.
10. Bridge. a recapitulation of the bids made by all players.

I so totally know what you mean, man.
The other day I was watching "Election Campaign 2008 in Review" and they broke away to advertise commemorative coins about President Elect Obama.
I was so upset, I couldn't watch the rest of the show knowing who won.

I have to admit it does piss me off when the anchors on sportscenter give away the result of the game before the highlights are over, but not enough to right a 500 word rant on it, just a 41 word rant.
Now to the point. THERE IS NO NEED FOR A BLOODY TICKER DURING A HIGHLIGHT SHOW!!!

Agreed, there is absolutely nothing added by showing Premier League results on a ticker during a Premier League highlights show. Like you, I usually know the results when watching this show, but if I have been out of town at the weekend, I deliberately choose to watch in order to catch up. It's not a "big deal", but it certainly is silly at the least to show that ticker.

Does the NFL, NBA, and MLB get world class coverage in England?

But when they do review shows for the NFL, NBA, and MLB, the ticker still runs...

I thought this was going to be about the legitimate complaint of showing the Everton-Sunderland final score at halftime of the Blackburn-Man City game---WHICH THEY DID, THE BASTARDS.
When I saw it among the list I quickly covered my eyes, so I don't know if West Brom-Tottenham was there, too, but they usually put the FSC symbol next to games they're going to show later in the day.
What the hell happened?

I did notice that, thankfully I wasn't planning on watching Everton v Sunderland.
I'd bet the usual guy who does the scores was on vacation.

I always wondered why the computer or computer program that controlled the ticker couldn't be fed some kind of time cue so that scores won't appear in the ticker for the highlights we're watching. Sunderland highlights are up from 23:15 to 26:10...skip over the entry for Sunderland score in the ticker. Everyone's happy.
That or for the hour that the review show is on, don't show EPL scores in the ticker.
Most times I know the score, but I like it when they create a little drama.

In the days of high-speed internet, the ticker is completely obsolete. There is no need to have it. Very few people will depend on seeing the FSC ticker to get their EPL results. Why do they use it when the benefit is so small and the risk of spoilers so great?

My tv and computer are in separate rooms, so the ticker is still very use full.

[skip down to the capitalized part]
first, I know what "review" means, but still...why wouldn't the producers of the show want to include "suspense" among the goodies their show offers?
2nd:
DUCT TAPE!
across the bottom of the screen!
which I went and applied after the I saw the end of a sentence "
...his in-grown toenail." several times during a soccer broadcast on ESPN2, without catching WHOSE in-grown toenail it was. Until later. (Michael Jordan's)
I guess soccer just isn't worth watching just on its own, eh?
and my criticism extends to the untimely and and off-topic ramblings of Stone and many of the announcers
