Freshman year in high school, there was this kid on my team with really spindly, long legs (he was 6'2, 5 feet of which must have been legs). He was tackled from BOTH sides by two players, effectively snapping his leg in half. He was in a cast and a wheelchair for months. I don't know how the hell he managed to not scream. Even more, I dunno how the opposing players got away with only a yellow.

I got head butted from the side once in a club game. I was running out for a through ball and this huge dude just head butts me, gets away with nothing. I didn't feel anything except a burning in my ear, but then i collapsed, completely blacked out. I woke up and there was blood everywhere. This guy literally popped my ear. This doesn't compare to the injury you saw though. That had to hurt.

I've seen several nasty injuries.

Saw a bone protruding from a HS player's leg when I was a kid.

American football - on a sweep our guard in 8th grade stepped on a kid's arm and the snap was audible from the sidelines. Also - our LB jumped offsides and gave a brutal forearm underneath the opposing guard's facemask and broke the kid's nose. Got the heave-ho for that slick move.

Playing Aussie Rules (in a pre season friendly against an army team) - one of our guys came down from a high leap and landed spread-legged on one of theirs outstretched leg.

The leg snapped with bone sticking out and blood all over, while our guys testicles were knocked way up into his pelvis and he passed out.

Game over, ambulances all around.

This year in Spain we had a friendly between Belgians and Dutch. It was a pretty rough match and at 3-3 one of the Belgians was tackled, tried to keep his balance but, oops, he stepped on the bal. His right kneecap was somewhere under his balls, the weirdest ************ I've ever seen.

I don't know if this one is true but my mates swear by it.

You know those pins that hold the nets in the ground at the back of the goal?? I dunno what they're called, but apparently there was one lying in the grass pitch at my mate's old primary school.

This guy went in for a slide tackle and ripped his ballbag open because it caught on the pin mid tackle.... Oooohhh - nasty. Dunno where the poor kid is now.

World Cup Italy '90.

Argentina vs USSR.

Argentine keeper Pumpido's leg is broken by a tackle. We got to see in slo-mo how his shin bone slowly beeennds. Not to mention the look on his face while this is happening.

I can´t remember when it was, but everybody in Germany around 30 years and older knows this foul. I believe Norbert Siegmann (Werder Bremen) against Ewald Lienen (Arminia Bielefeld). This is the result:

Remember the LT tackle on Theisman, and the snap of the leg. I still can't watch that .

I was playing Rugby about 8 years ago at full-back, I'm ready to receive a "garryowen" kick (like a big punt). I have my eye on the descending ball but out of the corner of my eye I notice two of the opposing teams players coming hard and fast, I knew I was going to get hit.
The two guys, both over 250 pounds, arrived the same time as the ball which I caught, but was subsequently knocked out of my hands. I had called for the mark but of course the referee did not hear it and play went on as I layed on the ground. It was a weird feeling, I knew I was hurt but didnt feel any pain. When I tried to get up I promptly fell back down again, concussed. Turned out, as well as the concussion, I got a dislocated shoulder and two broken fingers, not to mention a couple of stud marks on my chest and scrapes on my face.

Not as bad as any of these, but then I (fortunately) haven't seen anything like what's been posted here:

Goalkeeper fully extends his arm to stop a very hard shot and manages to get his palm on the ball. The force of the impact causes his biceps to detach completely and roll up his humorous bone like a window shade.

Was in a rec league, guy was dribbling the ball and got his ankle caught in a rut. Endded up breaking his ankle.

Still rember his foot and ankle hanging off at a grotesque angle. Still give me the chills.

Besides the leg break to Busst from Coventry City (http://www.uglyfootballers.com/rogues/ugly_injuries/ugly_injuries.html)

I think the Thiesmann injury(live on Monday Night Football) and Syd Vicious on WCW last yea were pretty bad. Syd jumped off the turnbuckle to drop kick an opponent and his leg broke when it hit the canvas- right in the boot. He looked like a discarded action figure. The announcers proclaimed they wouldn't show it again like MNF, but they re-ran it throughout the rest of the broadcast. Ugly as hell.

There's another one that's usually emailed to folks. It's a quicktime movie of this kickboxing match somewhere in Europe. These two opponents were measuring each other with sidekicks and they actually struck each other shin to shin. One fighter's leg turned to rubber as he went down in a heap. The ref immediately ran over 'cause the other fighter had no idea what happened. Yikes!

It's the kind of stuff that makes you nauseous.

my sophomore year of high school...

teammate was in the far corner of the field, away from the our bench/stands. it was raining and this idiot came sliding in from a yard or two away. hits out guy midshin right as the leg plants. people on the bench and in the stands heard his leg snap. even worse, he tried to get up and the leg collapsed when he put weight on it. just thinking about it makes me want to throw up.

Aside from the wrestler Sid Viscious snapping his Tibia like a toothpick and colapsing on the mat in what had to be pure agony, the worst I was involved in personally was my senior yr while playing American Foorball. Our QB was running a bootleg pass and was blind sided by a defensive back. He went down in a heep & didn't cry. We didn't see anything but his arm was immobile. When we watched the tape the next day, we saw his arm swing back & forth like his elbow was made of spaghetti. Disgusting! So we had to rewind it a few dozens times or so.

Senior year of HS gridball, our flanker had just planted his leg when a defender hit him in said leg. Heard the snap on the far sideline, where I was standing. No ambulance, so we got to carry him off. I had the honor of carrying his injured leg (still attached). It looked like a dislocated knee, but turned out to be a total break in the bone below the knee, with the two halves being displaced. He was in a wheelchair for six months. Went on to play 1-AA college ball.

I tackled a guy a few weeks ago in a soccer match, and went he went down he stuck out his arm. Total dislocation of the wrist. That was the end of his game, but I admire his guts not even moaning or going "ow".

First soccer game I ever played, in the Army, it was students versus instructors. One of each went up for a header, and collided heads. The student's whole eye, just where the lid and and brow come together was split open. Blood everywhere. The instructor's nose was sideways on his face. They both came to class the next day and we laughed at them all bandaged up. (Army humor, I guess ...)
