According to Goff that information about a third round pick is wrong. Apparently that was traded to KC as part of acquiring Q2.

I wonder...I wonder...will we try to trade for another first round pick?

Why? The only strong thing about the draft is defenders and we already have plenty of those.

I wouldn't be surprised if we traded for picks--but not necessarily b/c we intend to draft players with them. That's not a commentary on the quality of this draft--there are always players out there who can contribute right away and others who will be real surprises and plenty with real futures in the game.
But you've got a bunch of teams (us, Chicago, Metro--to name only 3) that don't have many picks in this upcoming draft. I can see Chicago and Metro both being very interested in picks. But given MLS (with the 3 and 4-way deals), the best way for them to get a pick (since they may not have someone they can part with that interests Dallas or NE or whomever) is a 3-way. B/c another part of this equation is cap dumping. Some teams will be seeking to create cap room or replace a veteran with a P-40 player.

The 2004 SuperDraft is Friday, January 16. Any word on whether there will be Adu merchandise there? I thought I heard that DCU was trying to get it out for draft day.

I can see that happening, but not with DC being involved. Unless we're going to get some proven players (preferably in the forward or midfield positions), I don't see us being involved for a while. It's more likely that Dallas and New England will make some big moves, but teams with less picks and good talent (Chicago, DC) I just don't see doing much.

Are we going to do the BigsocerDCU chat room for those who don't have FSW during the Superdraft.
