Maybe he is a shyte player who occasionally plays really well rather then the other way round like I said :)

'Manchester collectively the better team' -what rubbish, hope we win just to stuff some of the obviously bias bastards who are always on our backs

Read a couple of reports of our last game that basically said we are shyte, our team is shyte, we play like shyte, our manager is shyte, and everything we do is shyte.

And this in a week we fought back from 2-0 down and with 2 young Englishmen scoring the 2nd and 3rd goals.

ps Still no Guddy and Jimbo goals, fantastic that, as we know that they are gonna get more or less the same amount of goals as last season.

Poll that is.

Good job they don't have a sub for refs or he'd be out of there.

Typical Chelsea...play great one minute (okay...first half)...and then like crap the next (the second half)...

Zenden was unbelievable in that first 45....sweet goal before the end of the half...then he was a ghost out there...personified Chelsea right there...

(sigh)...a sign of the season to come???...

Utter shyte.
Sure we wern't as good in the second half as we were in the first.Anybody who though that we would maintain that level of football in only our second game of the season knows fuk all about the game.

Our falling in the second half was also due to the fact that Manure picked up their game from the first half considerably.
Fitness levels of some of their players was fantastic...Silvestre, giggs and keane showed mid-season form rather than second game.

Our Full backs need a swift kick up the arse though and the sooner we get two bona fide ones the better.

Didn't want to argue with you the last time priest about Baba, but thats the way i see him.

Great signs there though and to be honest we are lucky to come away with a point as that was definitly a penalty.
Still..................we're top of the table :)

Damn lucky to take a point. Really a terrible 2nd half for Chelsea. No midfield at all.

I thought CC should have been given red and a penalty as well.

Oh well. We didn't lose and it could have easily gone that way.

Indeed GPK.well said.

One of the hallmarks of any champion is luck and picking up points where you had no business doing so.

That was definitly one point gained rather than two lost.
Good for the morale also as we are still unbeaten and did put together some nice footie.

Now we have to carry that first half style to the Dell on tuesday ? or is it wed?....anyway, if we play like that for a spell we will run away 2-0 or 3-0 winners.

Remember we were playing a great team out there today and testament to that is the fact that we ran them of the park in the first half and still nearly lost the game.

I reckon one of the big differences between us and united is that they look dangerous even when they are getting their arses kicked.

Like in the first half you always felt like they could score on the break

but when they were dominating the second half, that was it, we just didn’t look like we were going to score.

We got away from what i said we had to do.
We had to play wide to beat them as that midfield of theirs is simply the best in the league ..bar none.

That coupled with the fact that we still don't have a top class one was why i said we needed to feed the ball out ot the wings to beat them.
We got away from doing that in the second half and seemed to be trying to feed it up the middle with no headway at all.

De Lucas is a shadow of himself when he is withdrawn into the center and petit is...well he's just a shadow.
Zenden-lumpy-De Lucas.....we need a quality one to complement these three.

Uniteds style of play was typical of their recent away games...soak up then lightning strike on the counter. They have the players to pull it off and everytime they put one in over the back line i though we were done for.

Melchiot leting keane have that shot was typical of our Fulls.

So who played well in the second half??? Definately Cudicinni....guess that's about it...Babayaro had at least 3 misplaced passes, ...Hasselbank played like crap ...Zola-crap...Zenden (although a great 1st half) tired, Lampard and Petit-nonexistent, Desailly-
lucky to not be carded more, Gallas and Melchiot-more or less solid, Gronkeiar and Cole and Eidur-so so....

And if you say that "Well, Man U. are just in fantastic shape"...I want to know why Ranieri hasn't whipped up the boys more in preseason games!!!

Considering our horrid record against Manure at home (excluding that glorious 5-0 drubbing a few years back), I would have gladly taken the draw before the game...but after looking at the game as a whole, i can't say that we've thrown a gauntlet against the nay sayers on our title ambitions...

Yeah...you're right...its just the second game...but i don't want to hear sorry ass excuses ... especially from other Chelsea fans.

From what i reckon...isn't a footy game 2 halves...not 1????

You do indeed reckon right.
Neither team played well for both halves

Hass didn't really play "crap'.
His first touch is not there yet and any striker that doesn't have that will look akward and out of sorts. It will come in time.

Zola was inspirational in the first half..just tired out in the second and should have made way for Cole about the 60th minute or so.

Lumpy was all over the field and was yet again the victim of not having a decent holding midfielder in the team.he harried and chased all over the place, especially in the second half and a lot of that type of work will go uin-noticed.Did you happen to look off the ball and see how many times he busted a gut to run to the unmarked and open man to close down the space and thus make the United player go elsewhere.A lot of those "forced elsewhere" passes were cut out or stuffed by a good tackle.
Work of that nature is usually not caught on camera and will never win you MOTM.

Yeah...you're right...its just the second game...but i don't want to hear sorry ass excuses ... especially from other Chelsea fans

As i've said in other posts we were lucky and should be happy with the point.

Petit has not shown up consistantly since we bought the ************er.Huge disappointment and today was no exception.

Um..sorry for such a harsh reply the first time.I don't usually do that.

Better late than never, watched the game and then had to hit the road, now I'm back for me post match analysis.

Babba - didn't have a great game, 2 games into the season, still a decent back up though. Lets face it he had a lot of work to do out there and Zenden had a great game; maybe Babba deserves some credit for a supporting role there?

Mario Melchiot - Full of energy and buzzing away. Against weaker opposition, I think Mario is the man to have, great enthusiasm and drive. Mario is a good competitor and team player against the smaller clubs. But against good opposition, I'm always thinking that the lad strays out of position and gets caught. I think Claudio has to reign him in, De Lucas or Gronks are supposed to do the attacking and Mario the supporting. Mario needs to hold his position more.

Defensively inclined full backs are needed if we're playing with wingers.

The problem - The battle in midfield was lost in the second half. Petit was out of steam and the only option Claudio really has is to move De Lucas inside and bring on Gronks. Now, IF we have injuries, we have no strength in depth in our midfield and this worries me. But this was a good test for our midfield, Man yoo have the best midfield in the country and we won the midfield battle in the first half and that aint bad eh? Lampard continues to impress. Zenden ran out of steam in the second half, would have been nice to bring on GLS for the last 20 mins or so eh? De Lucas was good. Gronks as expected, hung back and let Melchiot take the initative.

Zola & Jimmy didn't get the support in the second half. Eidur and cole likewise.

Over all I'm happy with the result, we need to play like we did in the first half and we could go far this season.

where were you off to that you had to run?

I was a bit upset about giving away both goals, I think they could have been prevented rather easily with better defending from the fullbacks.

Have you heard the news from Chelsea TV tonight? Birch and Bates were on and said that

a) No Chelsea player was leaving

b) We don't owe Barca any more money

c) Barca have not made an official approach for Jimmy. If that's the case then I would surmise that all the quotes attributed to Gaspart are either rubbish or he is guilty of tapping Jimmy up through his agent and the media.

I had to watch the game and then meet the bird and get off to the Hamptons for the weekend on the choo-choo.

I thought Jimmy played well on the friday, in the first half. His dangerous ability to strike from any distance is truly amazing. I think I'd forgotten just how blooming good he is. He is still the best striker we have at present. Zola being past his prime and the youngsters not quite at his level yet. Kinda surprised he got some stick from a few. I really think we need to keep him to do well this season.

I don't think it will be the end of the world if we lost him (and that applies to ALL our players btw) but I'd be happy to have him for at least another 2 seasons.

The press hates Chelsea.

Aye quite true that.
It is however Bates' own fault that we are so maligned in the rags. His long and oft bitter feud with the Mirror is well known.

He continues to give them second class treatment at the bridge, sub-par press boxes in an almost brand new stadium..no refreshments provided at press conferences...continued refuseal to comment to 'em.
No wonder they have all bandied together to hate us.

I was actually disappointed in Jimmy a bit, because of all the long distance shots that he launched goal wards (what was it? half a dozen or more?), only one tested the keeper.

I don't mind him having a crack every once and a while, but sometimes it might be best to pass the ball. Or even hold it up.
