Well good old Freddy has opened his big gob on the current state of affairs. Here's a link to soccernet.com's article:

So what do you guys think about his comments?
Personally I think Freddy should take a look at himself for not spending a few quid on a new defender during the summer instead of waiting for us to qualify for the Champions League proper.

Everybody knows that there is only one "Freddy." I guess I'm just an Amerasnob.

I always forget that the thread will pop up on the main message board besides in the Newcastle Forum...well I guess it was a way to get Mr. Seagroves to post on the Newcastle board, something I never thought I'd see.

It is one of the very few occasions when I am in agreement with Fat Freddy.
After their achievements of the last two seasons, the squad seems to have decided that it has a divine right to finish in the top four; they really do need to improve.
As for spending on a quality centre back, I agree that we need one. But from Freddy's perspective he can see that Bobby has already spent £14 million on Woodgate and Bramble, the first of whom is too frequently injured and the second of whom is not yet a Premiership quality player. In addition we have three full international centre backs in support of those two (O'Brien, Caldwell and Dabizas - four if you include Hughes who played mostly at centre back in his earlier days).
Let's not forget that some of Bobby's signings have been big mistakes - e.g. Bassedas, Gavilan and Cort. I reckon that Freddy suspects that if Bobby gets another £10 million to spend he will flush it down the toilet.

If they crash out of another Cup on Saturday, I wonder if that will accelerate the buying of new talent (Bobby said he had his eyes on two arrivals during transfer window), or will Freddy reel him in entirely and start a salary purge?

I did wonder how you'd gotten so many replies to a thread on this board!

Fat Freddy is himself partly to blame for being such a cheap ass during the summer transfer period.
