Is it too soon to talk about this one?

Anyone know anything about the Gills?

They seem to be in the upper part of the lower half of Division One.

Should this be a problem for the Addicks? Will Curbs play starters to keep good form going? Will he play others from the bench to work them out?

Curbs will be going all out on this one. The club has had such poor showings in cups over the past two seasons.

Last season's League Cup seen them go out to Oxford United (Div. 3) on penalties at home. This year we couldn't get by Everton losing 1-0.

Last season's FA Cup saw a win at home against soon-to-be-relegated-out-of-the-league Exeter City (owned by mentalist, Uri Geller) only to be thumped in the next round 4-0 by Fullam.

Gillingham will be nothing to be sneezed at. First Division clubs love to put the hurt on a Premiership side when given the chance.

One final thing to be aware of, this third round has a lot of Premiership clubs matched up against each other meaning that there will be a lot less of those clubs in the later rounds to be drawn against.
Good draws could send the Addicks far if they don't take for granted any lower level opponents.

The club made it to the quarterfinals three years ago. Let's hope their form continues with a nice Cup run.

They've knocked Wednesday out of the FA cup twice in the last four years...in 99-00 it was in the fifth round; Wednesday were in the Premiership and Gills were in the second division.

They did it again last year in the third round.

Okay. Out of another cup. What is it with Curbs and his boys just not UP for any kind of cup play? This makes one think, "Why move up the table to go to the Champions League or the UEFA Cup when the club will get knocked out in the first round?"

And I don't understand the lineup. Okay, Parker is a little hurt. Sit him out. Replace him with Jensen. Then keep the rest of the side the same as the last game. Sub on for individuals later.

Or at least start a similar lineup. How about:
GK: Kiely
D: Kishishev, Fortune, Perry, Hreidarsson (Fish sub)
M: Stuart, Holland, Jensen, Euell, (Konchesky sub)
F: Johansson, Cole, (DiCanio sub)

Personally I don't understand starting Konchesky who is a defender as a midfielder. What I have seen of him so far is not in the least impressive. He seems slow, out of position, and his touch leaves a lot to be desired.

This is disappointing. The Addicks need to keep form. They better come up with something better in the next match.

Sorry that it has taken me so long to chime in about this game. I wonder if the Cup jinx will ever end? What is it about one and done games against lower division teams?

I think that if they do keep a CL or UEFA Cup spot that the team will do well. There are no 1st Division English sides in those competitions:)
