The Spain star fears he will need surgery to repair the problem. He had a second scan on his damaged right knee last night, after an earlier examination revealed the severity of the injury.

The pal added: “He has been told he will not be available until the end of March, which means he will miss the next round of the Champions League and a number of crucial Premier League matches.

I'm holding out hope, since 90 percent of what The Sun "reports" is made-up garbage.

Of course, 10 percent of it is true. Three months, that would really suck.

Is there some way they could take out my MCL and give it to Cesc? I will be willing to donate it. The quicker we could get this done the better.

While they are in there they can take my hammy for Rosicky.

This is a weird one. How would The Sun know this before every single other news outlet? At the same time, if they are printing this in tomorrow's paper, they must be pretty confident considering Arsenal.com says the extent of the injury will be known tomorrow.

Fox said 3 weeks tonight on the 10 o'clock broadcast.

Fox said 3 weeks tonight on the 10 o'clock broadcast.

I'm pretty sure they're just repeating Wenger's post-match prediction. They've really never had anything close to exclusive breaking news, from what I've seen.

How come the Sun know it first and not the Arsenal official web site???

cause it's probably fake.

"3 weeks? more like 3 months"

it just sounds too "perfect" if you know what I mean.

Arseblogger is saying the same thing but he doesn't cite his source. I don't think he's one to put much stock in the Sun so I wonder if anyone else is confirming the severity of the injury.

I wonder if there's been confirmation somewhere else. Arseblogger, who doesn't usually bite on sheer rumour, reports the 3 months as if it were fact, and the BBC.com (though only in the rumours column) cites "Various" outlets as the source of the figure. If it's true, it's not good. I think if it is, the boss will choose to struggle on with what we've got (since that's what I figured he was going to do before the injury).

Unsurprisingly The Sun has gotten it wrong

Arsene has just said in his press confrence that it will be at least 4 months!!!

Start dusting off that cheque book Arsene.

EDIT: Wenger "its a partial rupture of the medial ligament" He will be out for 3-4 months but we are looking at 4 at the moment.

Asked whether he is more likely to sign players in January he said "more likely yes but we have internal solutions aswell."

Asked if Arshavin would be the ideal replacement Arsene said "at this moment in time there is no one coming in and no one going out, that is all I can tell you."

The source of the 3 months could very well be from our camp. Just because they know a piece of information doesn't mean they rush to update the site on their cellphones.

3 months - that could be the end of our season right there. I don't see us getting a replacement even close to Cesc's quality, and even if they are, there will be an adjustment period.

By the time Cesc's replacement is starting to find their feet, Cesc will already be back and we will be within the last 6-8 weeks of the season. I say we shouldn't buy anyone. If we believe so much in Denilson he should be able to take over, or what are we paying him for?

We get told to believe in our backups, so let's show that belief and let them fill in. If we don't believe they have the ability to step up and cover for an injured first team player, then we should be packing their bags asap.

Setanta is reporting that at a press conference today, Le Boss confirmed that Cesc could be out for four months. :(

edit: partial rupture of the MCL.

Godspeed Cesc

My condolences. He's one of my favorite players and no team deserves that kind of loss (except maybe Chelski and ManU.)

:( Sorry guys.
