Everton manages to draw with 10 man Chelsea at Goodison. John Terry sent off.

We are top of the pops for Christmas.

Of course, Woody Allen and Sir Rednose are quite happy as well:mad:

OK we are top for Christmas but this is only the halfway point. There are no prizes now. We must build on this foundation and have an even better second half to the season.

of course, of course. but it's pretty nice - especially after the substandard run of form over the last 6-8 games.

It is more important that we do not make it twice. :D

It really will be interesting to see the stories/excuses/explanations, assuming Liverpool stay top.

They should fall into two main categories:
A: Chelsea, Manchester United and maybe Arsenal are not playing well this year, so Liverpool are only there by default.

B: Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are having a tougher time in Europe or they are concentrating on Europe, so again Liverpool are not really worthy of being top.

As Mr. Shakespeare said, Heaven forfend! that they might actually win the thing. There won't enough ink or copies of MS Word to spin that eventuality.

Fantastic achievement so far - we beat the (other) best sides, drew with Arse...we gave many chances to Chelsea to overtake us but they and ManUre have failed to take 3 pts pretty much every time we did as well.
Kuyt was a beast first dozen games or so, saving us in Champions League and scoring 3 in the EPL (he scored 17% of all goals and has 14% of all assists:D - nice job revelationx).
Gerrard scored some huge goals to win us games and is still the best player.
Too bad Torres is hurt because without him not only do we lose threat up front but games have much less entertainment value.
Keane is showing flashes of brilliance and Torres' absence is hurting him as well.
I just wish we were prepared to risk more and bring additional bodies into the box when we are flanking...too many draws
The worst result of the season was the loss to Tottenham which was more than unfortunate after we opened the 2nd half with some of the best Liverpool football this year. 1 loss and it was a fluke - can't ask for anything more...

PS Special thanks to Everton - 1st they lose to us and then draw with ManUre and Chelsea.

Got to keep it up or pick it up for 2009.

I think he is referring to our loss to Spurs in the league.

Bring on the New Year!

We will be getting Skrtel and Torres back from injury, and we will have young players like Insua and Lucas full of confidence. The veterans like Mascherano, Alonso, and Kuyt will hold us steady, while the hometown heroes, Gerrard and Carragher, will drive us forward. If Keane gets on a roll after that Arsenal goal and the likes of Babel/Benayoun/Agger can handle being rotated while still contributing valuable minutes we will have a good second half.

YNWA.

Oh!

And I forgot our brilliant net-minder Reina, who has stayed injury-free and mostly mistake-free this entire campaign so far. He is really one of the heart and souls of this squad.

Touch wood on all above points.

Yes lets not be the only team to do it twice in recent history!

In the recent Christmas podcast on LFC.tv, Gerrard praised Reina and labelled him one of the top 3 GK's in the world as well as a possible future captain of Liverpool.

Carragher also said that Pepe was the most scouse non-scouser.

He has always been underrated by the rest of the world...all of whom think that Cech, Julio Cesar, Frey, Valdes etc are all better than him.
