JJ WROTE:
How would you work out the logistics of having the WC matches in such a wide area, from Porto Alegre to the Amazon to the Northeast? The air travel would be tiring, IMO.
Not all team would be crisscrossing the country. Certain nations would play in the North others in the South etc etc etc... Ummm didnt we have a WC in the US in 94? The US is about the same size of Brazil.

Has Presidente Lula commented on the FIFA decision? Or anyone in his administration?

The US team in 94 played Switzerland in Detroit, and then Colombia and Romania in LA. There was a fair bit of travel involved. If I remember correctly, teams only traveled once to another region. Usually they stayed back east (New York, Orlando, Boston) midwest-southwest (Chicago, Dallas, Detroit) or out west (LA, San Francisco). Yes, there was travel, but not too much.

I imagine that the same thing would occur in Brazil. Teams staying in the North (Forteleza, Belem, Salvador), central-south (Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Rio, Sao Paulo) and the far south (Curitiba, Porto Alegre). I know there are other cities that could host, but I am just speculating how they could split up the travel.

An update (and bump for newbies):
I never posted the 2002 Champions, well here they are:

Robinho and Diego included.
For 2003 , 8 rounds into the championship (46 total, first ever Brazilian chamionship formulated like a Euro league meaning no playoffs or final) and Cruzeiro is looking very good (undefeated in 34 games), Internacional hanging in 2nd and Santos the defending champ in 3rd. STill too early to tell.
Cruzeiro winner of many national and international titles has never won the Brazilian championship.

Obrigado, Brasil. You guys deserve to host the 2014 WC. So...do we know whether the CBF is putting together a plan to organize the tournament?
