Jürgen Kohler wins his coaching debut 2-0 in Italy by goals of Benjamin Auer, who now scored 8 goals in 8 U21 games. I really can't understand Gladbach's coach Hans Meier (who I greatly appreciate otherwise) why he isn't giving him a real chance, especially now as Arie van Lent is out with torn ACL.

That sentence could have been written by me, I agree in all aspects...

Auer is probably (no, make that "definitely") our biggest young hope as a real striker who can finish.

Are the staff people at Gladbach so angry that the negotiations about a contract extension (his current one goes until next year) failed? I would not have believed that about Meyer... Of course, I don't know what really happened between the parties involved in those talks.

I don't understand this theater. Gladbach is saying "if you don't sign a new contract, we won't let you play". Auer says "if you don't let me play, I won't sign a new contract". If Gladbach gave him a real chance, then the chances that Auer signs for further seasons are quite good I think - but of course Auer can't sign at a club where he sees no playing time.
