Not the best place to try to break out of a bad slump....

One of the early kickoffs in the Premiership on the day's program-- 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET (1 a.m. Melbourne time for me... perfect for me when I get home from work tonight).

FSW has same-day delay coverage on this one, at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET.

For the live show, best way to stay in touch would be the live streaming audio via pay-subscription services on either team's site, or otherwise the text updates via usual sources (eg., sportinglife.com, the BBC, Soccernet, etc.).

News round-up forthcoming, before I leave for work late this afternoon here...

They'll be showing this live on ESPN at 10 pm in Hong Kong, where I am spending my holiday. I will get to watch two back-to-back live matches featuring Brad and Timmy. :)

I envy you. :p

Back-to-back action here in Australia, too, with games involving both Brad and Timmy as well-- but it's on Fox Sports 1. Which we still don't get on our cable system here in Ballarat.

We'll be moving soon, closer to Melbourne, due to my wife's new teaching job-- and thank goodness for that... I'll make sure I have the new cable and broadband internet hooked up the moment we move in.

No way. I love my wife. :)

Mind you, I've done no shortage of complaining to our cable company here. Even implored them to look into getting me FSW-- just for me, though. In addition to Fox Sports 1 & 2.

But thank goodness my wife's got a new job at a school she simply loves. And at a school that loves her back, too.

No worries-- in a couple of months from now, everything's going to be OK. :)

News round-up forthcoming...

Provided I can get home from work in time, I'll do the PbP on this match, before I go to bed. :)

It's 11 p.m. here so far, my time, and it's looking good so far...

Now that I have a peek at that article again, it's dated Monday the 22nd. My bad.

However, in light of the finishing problems that Rovers had been having of late, should Blackburn re-open its interest in trying to make a move for McBride?

Mind you, that's should they, as opposed to will they...two mutually exclusive matters altogether.

Great move from Rovers. Gallagher with a touch on a whipped in cross, ball goes over the goal, barely looping over Given. Goal kick.

Jenas left footed shot, Brad with a "top class" save, out for a corner.

Working beautifully already.

Rovers really need some better production from their front men. Can't finish worth a hill of beans lately...

"'Round the post," according to the Soccernet gamecast.

Sportinglife.com's tracker says this...

7th min. -- Shot by Jermaine Jenas (Newcastle) left-footed from right channel (18 yards), save (tipped round post) by Brad Friedel (Blackburn). Inswinging corner from right by-line taken left-footed by Laurent Robert (Newcastle) to near post, clearance by Paul Gallagher (Blackburn).

Nice to see Gallagher helping out at the other end, too...

Someone's gotta get a body on Big Al...

11th min. -- Cross by Nolberto Solano (Newcastle), shot by Alan Shearer (Newcastle) drilled right-footed from left channel (18 yards), blocked by Andy Todd (Blackburn).

Brad getting a bit of help there, it sounds like...

15th min. -- Friedel saves from Robert.

This coming a couple of minutes after Given had saved an Emerton shot...

Ferguson with a free kick, shot on goal. Just curls past the post. Given left lead footed. Never moved.

Forced to move a couple of moments later, however...

19th min. -- Shot by Paul Gallagher (Blackburn) drilled right-footed from right channel (20 yards), save (caught) by Shay Given (Newcastle).

Sounds to me like Rovers are beginning to dictate the flow of the attacking play, albeit just a bit. Can anyone verify this?
