Thanks and good luck.
I'm going to assume that you are one of the new players. How did you garner the attention of John Ellinger? Cocoa? Costa Rica?
Did you attend the camp at the ARCO training center in San Diego earlier this summer? Was that camp a tryout for the prospective new players?
FWIW, Jimenez is an 86.

Thanks again. It sounds like the ODP event at Costa Rica might be the most important tournament for a "new" player trying to join the residency program. Brandon Oot got the attention of Ellinger at Costa Rica as well.

I wouldn't say I know a lot about the team. In fact, I've never seen them play. I'm still trying to get a tape of the game with Brazil that was shown on Brazilian TV last winter.
There have been numerous discussions on this board about the U-17 team over the past year.
This board is best website to get scores/lineups for the U-17 team when they go to tournaments abroad. We even had a thread on the ODP tournament in Costa Rica that you attended last year. However, it's very difficult to find a lot of info on the U-17 team.
The USSF should be supplying updated stats and game summaries after every game like other federations thru their website. Unfortunately, they almost never release timely info. So, I usually send them an e-mail asking for the status of the U-17 team.

Hey guys...do you have more info on the Costa Rica trip? Which age groups went, and did all the Region teams attend this?
Do these 10 new players now bring the total to 30 at Bradenton?

ya the list is right around 30 i think. actually its 29 i think. robbie rogers turned it down from what i have heard. but about costa rica. it was in febuary and all 4 regions went. i know region 3 got 7th in the Samsung U-17 tournament in costa rica and one region team finished higher. 4th place i think. but the other 2 regions finished out strong too. the teams there were good. costa rica beat brazil in the final in golden goal. but yea alot of players were seen there. there were some really good games to watch

*I'm glad to see Jose Gomez is sticking around. The increased numbers should make the competition for places on the final roster fierce. Aren't the TFC finals in Guatemala? It might be a good idea to play some games in another Central American nation like El Slavador before the finals.

Is this Costa Rica trip an annual event? I don't remember them doing this a few years back. Is it new?

good luck in Florida man and please don't think too much about the stuff you read hear at Big Soccer. And no matter what you do read just remember that pretty much everybody at bigsoccer is cheering for US Soccer in general. Especially you guys, the future of our beloved sport.

I know Region IV went as early as 1995. The teams formed at the regional selection camps play independently I think.

Jamie Watson is the new Big Soccer Man of the Year.
Jamie Watson is the next Ronaldo/Beckenbauer/Pele and Maradona all in one.
:-)
Just kidding, but Jamie, there are a handful of us who are very keen on following the youth teams and often engage in something of a dark art, trying to figure out what is going on. Some firsthand information will certainly cement your cult status on here :-)
