Good thing we came second not third, wouldn't want to play Jol's Hamburg.
Shakhtar Donetsk are pretty experienced in Europe and seem to have been in the CL quite a bit, stocked full of Brazilians iirc
Tough match up but we have a decent chance if Woodgate/King are fit at the time.
Some interesting ties there.

As a Ukrainian fan, two things really stand out to me:
1. Donetsk in February.
2. Which Hotspur team shows up. Given that Shakhtar is a much much better team than Spartak, this will actually be a worthwhile match-up, however, bookies make Hotspurs very strong favorites (4/7on, I believe). Shakhtar, at 3/1, are a very tempting buy.

Shakhtar are a tough draw but we could've done worse I feel...I see us with a very good shot at moving on probably against Villa which will definitely be tough, I really am liking the way Villa have been playing this season
ANY WAY COYS!

Shakhtar is a nightmare for me. I managed them for like 10 seasons in FM 08 and fell in love witht them. IRL I've heard they're quite a threat as well. Bogdan Shust is goin to be a great keeper in the future, their defense, featuring Kucher, Chygrynskyi, and Rat, Willian and Srna in the midfield is a very intimidating duo as well and apparently Seleznyov is going to be the next big Eastern European star. In any case there's no doubt they have some great talent, some of which I would love to have at Spurs (such as Chygrynskyi and Srna). Definitely a tougher match up than Spartak Moscow.

Ave Low in Feb - 7 and Ave High is - 1. Jesus! That freaking cold.
RSK Olimpiyskyi is a multi-use stadium in Donetsk, Ukraine. The stadium's current maximum capacity is 25,831[1] and is currently used exclusively for football matches. After its reconstruction in 2003, the stadium was host to city-rivals FC Metalurh Donetsk, but Shakhtar has become the sole tenant of the stadium from 2004, where they will play until their new 5-star stadium is complete. FC Metalurh Donetsk has played at the old Shakhtar Stadium instead.
They Current sit 5th in the Ukraine League.

Is that F or C?
I'm betting F. If it was C, that would just below freezing - like playing in Munich or Berlin.

Shaktar's CL results:
Barcelona H - lost 1-2, A - won 3-2 (dead rubber)
Basle H - won 5-0, A - won 1-2
Sporting H - lost 0-1, A - lost 0-1
The Ukranian and Russian teams are really doing well in Europe.

If the club was taking this competition seriously then I would have no problem with this tie. However given the volume of games and the lack of financial awards, seems unlikely we will bring in more eligible players or put out a strong team.

Not the best of draws, but certainly feasible. If we can grind out a result away, we have every chance of going through.
Hopefully by Feb. We'll have been able to string a few results together and put some daylight between us and the relegation spots. If that's the case (and barring any injuries) Harry will field a strong side... Also, by then we'll have our fantastic january signings :)

It's Celsius. There aren't a many places that have big populations that have average temperatures below zero Fahrenheit. Don't confuse Ukraine with Siberia or northern Russia - that's where it gets really cold.
