Hilbert on for Gebhart.

And now Marica is off... not for Cacau, but for Schieber. Strange again.

Marica was good and shouldn't be subbed, and then why bring in the youngster in such an important game??

Oh well, as long as we keep the lead I don't mind.

He is trying to send some sort of message with these subs/starters for today. I think it's good, even if it scares me a bit. Maybe some guys have gotten too comfortable in their role as a starter and need a bit of motivation. Or Babbel has just decided to get these young guys some experience in this sort of game.

If my math is right, we're still in eighth, and Bayern is down to 5th after today's results.

We're 7th, equal on points to sixth placed Leverkusen.

Anyway:

EY EY DERBYSIEGER DERBYSIEGER EY EY DERBYSIEGER DERBYSIEGER EY EY

3 in a row man!!!!!

And away from home!! Get in!

And now the historians can write: 'In KSC's brief two-year stint back in the I. Liga, they unimpressively lost 3 of the 4 derbies'. ;)

Impressive run for Markus Babbel (still no defeat in the league).

Yeah, I think the table I was looking at had already updated Schalke's point total, which I hadn't noticed.

Only three points out of European spots now.

In all honestly, I'd kind of like to see KSC escape relegation. Two derby games a year is just too much fun.

I think this is exactly what we saw today. Face it, collectively our team defense and our concentration have not been good enough lately. We drop 2-1 twice to Zenit and we play two consecutive 3-3 draws. We were giving it away like a K** girl. I think Babbel went and showed that there are other players on the roster that can go in and get the job done just as well as the implied starters. Wake up call, we won, and more importantly, got a shutout. Maybe Babbel would have started Traesch over Magnin if he hadn't already changed the rest of the lineup so much? The point seems very clear none-the-less. Hilbert, Hammer, Cacau, etc. etc. all need to push themselves to play their best or their going to find the bench. We've crashed out of the two cups that we supposedly focused on during the Winterpause (which could also be why Babbel made a point in the game after crashing out of UEFA). All we have left is the league.

Look at the schedule, and for the most part, we have favorable pairings with regard to who we play at home or on the road. We could very easily go on a run if the players get their heads out of their asses, and Babbel just sent the message to do it. The tabel is tight, and I think we have a real shot of climbing it if we do what we're capable of.

I thought Magnin did better today, other than coming close to giving up a PK right away. A lot better than his performance last week.
