Rainer24, do you know now why Babbel brought Gebhart? :D
I wasn't against it, I was just surprised. Not you could call it pleasantly so.

On the positive side, Gebhart had a good debut, should give him confidence. Tasci has had a pretty good game and Träsch should be a starter.

1-2,look in Petersburg we got a useless goal in injury time of the first half, this costs us the round.

Or the useless goal at the end of the half in this round??
Zenit were better than us, the team really let me down today, I expected a much stronger performance.
It's too bad :(
Babbel and Heldt said over winter they both concentrated heavily on the two cups we were in. Well, we've fallen at the first hurdle on both.
I'm really bummed now.

We have lapses in concentration toward the ends of the halves in pretty much every match lately. You can't afford that if you any sort of ambitions.
We should just hand Träsch the keys at LB.

He was more solid than either Boka or Magnin have been all season.
I'd keep him in the first 11 for now.

Great goal by Gebhardt, he showed class!
And träsch was very solid I think at the LB. I think we can build on this team, and now just concentrate on the bundesliga and finish in a UEFA cup spot. An then when the autumn comes we will have a top team, i'm sure of that. Liebe VfB <3:D

Sorry guys, would have really liked to see you in the next round. But good to see Gebhart having a debut like that, I really rate him and hope that he'll come good, he has the potential to become an important player for the national team in future.

Unfortunately, your midfield & attack were simply not good enough tonight ... nearby you didn't manage to control their 30 million player Danny. Who knows how the game would have turned if Cacau scored the 1:0 before the interval ... nevertheless, I think that everyone admits that Zenit deservedly went trough (when you take both games into consideration).
PS: Only 30,000 fans attended this top match against the title holder - that's pretty disappointing for me.

You know man, when I first heard the attendance figures for tonight I immediately told myself 'Borussia is gonna come on the VfB thread and point this out'. Make of that what you will.

While I'm really angry at our team for the performance against Bayern in the cup, I think it's no disgrace to go out in the UEFA cup against the defending champion.
We gave our best and it simply wasn't good enough. We were somewhat unlucky in the first game, and we simply couldn't penetrate Zenit's defense in the second.

I'm wondering how much we really cared about this match. I'm not trying to write off a lackluster performance. The Russians were clearly the better team last night, but we certainly didn't help ourselves at all, particularly in the midfield. Hilbert and Khedira really didn't seem to be putting out any sort of effort win balls and drive forward. Only after Babbel brought on a couple of bench player, Elson and Gebhart, who are probably much more eager to prove their worth to the team, did we show any sort of combativeness and will to push forward. That really disappointed me. We just seemed really disinterested, and judging by the crowd, it's almost like no one involved with the team really about winning this game. Anyone else have that impression?

From everything you wrote, I got the impression that trying to write off what you saw as a lackluster performance is exactly what you did whether you were trying to or not.
Your comments read exactly like someone who says, "No offense" just before they proceed to say something completely offensive.
I thought you guys fought hard last night but were simply beaten by a Zenit team who came and did what they had to do.
I thought that match was one hell of a battle.
As you said, they were the better team. They are the defending Cup holders for a reason.
I thought you guys showed plenty of fight and will, but it just wasn't your night.
