Thank god i could not watch the game..but i am stunned, not because we lost..but how we lost and 5-0!
Can somebody tell me what happened?? did bayer totally dominate or we had one of those off games??

In the positive, no i didnt expect 6 points from our last 3 games..specially against schalke and cottbus...i just hope we are not in another nose-dive..and as long as we can survive this season am happy!

Equal game in the first 30 minutes, we didn't convert our chances, Bayer did, then we lost control and they ran over us.

Borussia crash 5-0

Borussia held their own for half an hour against Bayer Leverkusen in Düsseldorf before succumbing to a heavy 5-0 defeat.

Interview with Hans Meyer:

http://www.borussia.de/de/borussia_news_detail,185,0,newsid-170969.html

Btw: If we should get 16th, we'll very likely face Hans Meyer's former club 1. FC Nürnberg. I don't fear them (from what I've seen in the derby against Fürth and many other games this season, we should be able to beat them) ... however, since all is possible in soccer (bad luck, bad refereeing, frayed nerves etc.) and as they would play the decisive 2nd match at home in front of a 47,000 crowd, it would be very wise to secure spot 15 next weekend against Dortmund!

My only worry is that somehow Dortmund will take this opportunity to get revenge for the famous 12-0 of 1978 that almost gave BMG the championship (no, I did not see that--I was in Berlin watching HSV-Hertha play, but many in the crowd were listening to the Gladbach game on the radio, and each goal caused a wave of astonishment through the Olympia Stadion).

No team will ever score 12 golas against the "FOHLES" mark my word!

You missed the point, Naz! ;)

@ Ken

I don't believe they will think of that game on Saturday, but they are surely gonna be top-motivated to get the 3 points they need (if Hamburg wins in Frankfurt) in order to stay 5th in the table. However, you can be sure that we'll also be very motivated to get the result we need in order to keep the league! We play at home in a sold-out stadium (54,000) and have beaten Bremen, Hamburg & Schalke at Borussia-Park, reached deserved draws against Bayern & Hoffenheim and lost totally unlucky against Leverkusen & Wolfsburg ... so why shouldn't we be confident enough to reach a draw against Dortmund (who surely are in a good shape at the moment)?

Btw: Do you remember the last matchday of the season 2002/2003 (I remember it pretty well, as I was live at stadium in Nuremberg to see how Leverkusen would cope with the huge pressure ... and was soooo relieved to notice the goals from Bökelberg)?

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/spieltag/tabelle/liga/1/tabelle/1/saison/2002-03/spieltag/34

It was exactly the same situation as now (just replace Dortmund with Bremen)! We were 3 points & 5 goals ahead of Bielefeld (which faced Hannover 96) and had to play at home against a top motivated Werder side (with ambitions to play internationally). Although we needed only 1 point, we outplayed them 4:1 and kept the league ... whereas Bielefeld lost 0:1 to Hanover and got relegated.

Well, there's also a bad example of what can happen in such a situation ...

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/spieltag/tabelle/liga/1/tabelle/1/saison/1998-99/spieltag/34

(look at Nuremberg)

... so we have to be very careful & concentrated, since Dortmund will clearly go for the win (what should give us enough space for counter-attacks, though) and since I really expect Bielefeld to score a few goals against this embarrasing Hannover 96 defence (let's hope that Mika Forssell will try to do us a favour and score against them) with all the pressure they are facing from Cottbus.

I think that all is possible on Saturday and expect another thriller for us. But well, havent' we got used to such games lately...? :-))

After the Bielefeld match, I was hoping we'd get a chance to secure spot 16 with a win over Dortmund on last matchday ... and now we have the unexpected chance to even reach spot 15 with "only" a draw! Of course it's very annoying & dangerous what happened in Düsseldorf on Saturday ... but let's forget this game now and fully concentrate on the decisive game against Dortmund!

Btw: Have a look at Sebastian Schachten (our Nr. 2) - who surprisingly came after the interval for Pauuwe - in the 0:4 scene. I hope we won't see him in the BMG dress again...

If we should finish 16th, we'll have to play the 1st "play off" match on a Thursday at 6 o/c pm (!!) at Borussia-Park  ... what is a joke in my eyes (especially, since many of our fans have to travel huge distances ... so I doubt we'd get a sell-out)! The 2nd leg game in Nuremberg would take place on Sunday afternoon (3:30 o/c pm).

Nearby, Michael Bradley & Karim Matmour would be suspended for the 1st leg (5th yellow of the season) if they get carded against Dortmund on Saturday ... what is another joke (those DFB officials must be insane to let the season cards count for the relegations)!

As you see, it would be VERY WISE to avoid the "play off" relegations!!

Have a nice day.

Not at all...i understand its not about the 12-0 and about getting a win against us...but i have another prespective, since we lost 5-0 am sure the team will come out on fire & to prove something..and they would deliver a solid mistake-free football...i mean normally thats how great teams respond to a big loss...so as much as dortmund is flying high right now ( but their win 6-0 last week) might actually be a mind-trap for them..and mentally make them believe this game will also be a walk in the park and they can walk all over us!

I know Jürgen Klopp pretty well, so you can be sure that they won't be that silly! As I like Kloppo, I'd have granted him the 3 points if we managed to secure the league in Düsseldorf ... but in this situation, there's no time for sympathies.

It will be a hell of a fight on Saturday and a game in which everything is possible. Let's hope we can celebrate a big "Nichtabstiegsparty" after the 90 + x minutes...

Buona notte.

Focus on the essential

The 5-0 defeat away to Bayer Leverkusen ended the dream of the 25,000 Borussia fans in Düsseldorf of being able to celebrate avoiding relegation with a week of the season left to go.

Galasek with his first "5". It seems he wasn't fit after his injury suffered before the Cottbus game.
