I have some fond memories of games in the old Muengersdorferstadion when I was an exchange student at the Uni Koeln in 1978.
And yet you became a Borussia supporter. Something went terribly wrong there... ;)

[QUOTE=Borussia;17146129]Really? ;) Maybe that's why his team (which consists of mostly German players from the 3rd league) is playing such a good soccer and great season so far. :-)
Uwe its strange you bring that up,i was about to ask you about his team and how its structured and how are they doing so-far...its exactly like how i would have expected it to be,the guy was a legend and am not surprised how u explain his team and players...i wish him all the luck!
Really nice photos...specially the one with Van Lent, boy arie single handedly was all we needed for fire power and when Meyer brought him to borussia nobody expected such performance by van-lent:p

Before the season, they were rated as the weakest team of the league ... and now they are almost safe from relegation (the 1:3 defeat in Fürth - when they played a superb first half - was their first loss after 6 unbeaten games).
I had sympathies for RWO (they have the same badge like Celtic:-) already before Hans-Günter Bruns took over ... and now I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for them even more to keep the league.

Our "Glücksbringer" Arie should visit Borussia-Park more often! ;)
Btw: Do you remember from which club he came to Bökelberg (it's the same club from which our current Sportdirektor Max Eberl came to Mönchengladbach)? He was the fans' darling there as well.

I already was a Borussia fan long before I came to Germany as a student. My German teacher used to subscribe to German magazines for our class, where I discovered a story about Wolfgang Kleff and Borussia and I have been a fan ever since (and I still have that original picture somewhere at home). Then we started watching highlights on PBS (our public (government supported educational) TV network show called "Soccer Made in Germany" and would buy 2 week old Kicker's at the downtown Philly international newsstand when ever we went in town.
In 1978 I went to Koln thru Penn State's foreign studies program. The second weekend we were in town Koln played Duisburg (5:2) and I got 9 other of my fellow Penn State classmates who were in the program to attend (of a total of 30). A few weeks later one of the women in our class got a letter from her parents saying that they had seen the game on TV and were wondering if she was planning to go to a game. Her reply was--"I was there--perhaps you didn't look at the TV close enough! (and we were directly at midfield and so may well have shown up on camera)" Of the 5 BL games I attended, 4 were on TV back home (Koln vs Duisburg, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart and MG-Braunschweig, while Berlin-HSV was not) and I actually got to watch 3 of them again on reruns when I got home that summer. Sadly, we did not have a VCR in those days (most did not), so I have no record of the games other than my tickets and Kicker writeup. Also, they usually showed the coaches on the bench--but the one game they did not do that was BMG-Braunschweig, where I was actually sitting in row 2 directly behind Udo Lattek and thus would have been on TV for sure. I love Cologne and loved living in Efferen (and love Koelsch--I have a 4 pack of Reissdorf in my cooler) and finally had a chance to take my wife there in 2005 and we had a wonderful time there too (though Koln was not at home that weekend as the Centurions had a game, but of course we went to see BMG-Mainz).

BTW, the "Yes we can" slogan on that poster in one of the photos actually originated in 1974 (and not with President Obama in 2008) with the then woeful Philadelphia Phillies (baseball) and a player named Dave Cash (the Phillies are one of the oldest sports teams in the world, born in 1883 and the losingest, having never won a championship at that point and having only ever played twice for one at that point and having as of last year lost over 10,000 games in their history). This team lost the equivalent of a 20 point lead with 12 to play losing 10 straight in 1964. But the 1974 team had young talent and started winning, but no one believed in them--until Dave Cash coined the phrase "Yes We Can". By 1980, they were baseball champions for the first time in their history, having also won their division 4 times). The slogan was changed to "Yes We Did!". 800,000 fans attended the parade and rally in front of Independence Hall.

I believe BRUNS started from " SG WATTENSCHIED", and my prediction for the up coming away game is Gladbach 2 - 1 Koln :eek:;)

Are you ready for the derby, Naz? ;) It's surely gonna be a hell of a fight...
I think there's no BL team that managed to win more often in Köln than BMG, but we should also not forget that we haven't won a game at Rhein-Energie-Stadion yet (well, you surely remember what happened in injury time last season after those chaotic last 5 minutes with the fan trouble) ... so everything is possible. The fact that the hosts haven't won a home match since last autumn, surely isn't that good for us; but we have to look at ourself and try to confirm the latest upswing!
Here's a video clip with some interviews:

Uwe
What can i say,Daum and company have done a really good job so far this season & specially in the 2nd half of it, So its going to be a real battle fosho!
That being said i strongly believe if there is a time and place for us to change things around this season and avoid the drop its right now.
All the ingredients for this to happen are present, It will come down again to how bad our players want it and am sure Herr Meyer will do enough to get them motivated from a mental stand point...but its perfect timing for us to continue our positive stride!
Hope there will be a live-stream available but am not saving my breath for that:rolleyes:

After the performance against Hamburger the BMG players should feel like nothing in Germany can stop them. I agree, now would be the perfect time to start a late-season rally. So next up is a Derby match? I hope I see some fired up fohlens then.

This is a special game, I don't make a connection to the relegation battle. I am 100% sure that we won't get relegated; if I have had any doubts, the performances of the team since the winter break have wiped them off.
This is the derby. Nuff said. Our team is bursting with confidence, you can feel the belief to win every game. They will win this game.

There was a site (www.adthe.net (http://www.adthe.net)) with livestreams of all BL games before the winter break (without comment) ... however, it seems that they bring only 2-3 games lately (as it's the case with livefooty.com).
If you are interested, you can sign "Fohlen.TV" on www.borussia.de (http://www.borussia.de) and watch the BMG games in full length (+ highlights of the other matches) just a few minutes after the final whistle. The fee per month is € 5.
Do you mean www.atdhe.net (http://www.atdhe.net) ?

I have moved, and had no internet connection at home until last wednesday. I'll raise my posting frequency now. The victory in the derby will give us enough to talk about.

Couldn't believe the 4-1 thrashing of Hamburg... hopefully they pick up another 3 pts and start pushing out of the relegation zone.
What do you guys think of Stalteri? I liked him when he was at Spurs, not the best defender but certainly not the worst... plus he cemented his position in Spurs lore with the winning goal in the 4-3 West Ham thriller.
