So we went down 2-1,pressure is building up specially looking at the teams above us and how they are collecting points here and there,At some point after the PK i was positive we might come back home with one point..which would have been just perfect.I saw some parts of the the game and we sure played well...at this point we just have to wish for the best!

I had a bad feelings about this game. :(

Well technically speaking this game is no different that the rest of the games we have left this season. There is still hope to maybe avoid the drop, But also there is a strong chance we may not be able to catch up in time, Lets not forget how hard other teams are fighting too.I personally still believe Hans Meyer is the best person to coach this team, Lack of points in the first half of this season plus the squad put together by CZ & JL that clearly was not able to compete at a reasonable level has left us in the current situation.I just hope Meyer and Bonhof would team up well...and eventually at some point give us the depth and strength we deserve!
But i am also coming to terms with getting relegated again, I just hope meyer continues with gladbach regardless:cool:

i just watched espn's online gamecast (which shows realtime stats and play-by-play) and it seemed like we were a whole new team in the 2nd half! based on stats, it looked like we dominated the 2nd half. did anyone who watched this game get the same impression?

It was a tale of two halves.

Personally I just think one team knows how to finish and one team doesn't. Hence why Hertha are where they are (I think we have the best % of goals per goal attempt) and Gladbach are where they are.

It is obviously dissappointing to lose yesterday, however the improvement is there for all to see.
Hopefully we can play well against the teams just above us rather than just the top sides.
Having watched VFL for the past 6 seasons the club needs to stop making changes and get stability.
Build on the good youngsters at the club and go out an find a genuine goalscorer.

This defeat was as unnecessary as that in Stuttgart, but it also shows why we are the bottom team (lack of cleverness). We had a bad start, but got better after 10 minutes and managed to be on pari with Hertha until half-time. Unfortunately, our defence "provided" 2 incredible blackouts (Stalteri & Daems) and allowed the hosts to score 2 goals out of 3 chances. Especially the first goal from Voronin (well, why did i know that he'd score against us once again?) showed us why we can't replace Tomas Galasek and why we need him as some kind of sweeper...

What gives me some confidence in our very serious situation, is the reaction after the interval (Hans must have been pretty loud in the cabin:-) ... when we totally dominated the table leader and were close to reaching a draw. This shows that the team didn't resign but tried everything to turn around the game! The results from Cologne & Bochum are all but encouraging (somehow I've got the bad feeling that today's result in Karlsruhe won't be much better either) ... but we got used to 4-points lags in the meantime, so I hope we'll manage to cope with the increasing pressure.

It seems like you guys are definitely playing better of late, but could use more of a natural finisher in front of goal. Lots of creative guys running around, but not so many to put all those chances in the net.

I also think Marin shoots a bit too much. He's very talented, but he's also pretty egotistical if you ask me. I hope you guys beat the drop, but it is looking like it will be tough. Your next few games are against other struggling teams, so with the improving play, you could pick up some points here in the next couple of weeks.

We didn't play that badly before either. Our problem was and still is the defence (although it improved after the winter break) and our poor finishing. Maybe we should have really invested some money in Diego Klimowicz in the winter break...

I'd say he's dribbling too much in uncomfortable situations instead of passing the ball on time. But well, he's young and has to get more mature.

Of course it will be. The games against direct opponents like Karlsruhe, Cottbus, Bielefeld and Bochum will be crucial.

Well, our next game is against the table leaders from Hamburg (except for the Hannover 96 match, we had to play only top teams so far after the winter break)...

Yes, of course the HSV game will be tough, but after that pretty much everything is against teams in the bottom half of the table. Not only are those other teams not doing so well, a lot of those matches will effectively be six-pointers, so you guys really do control on your own destiny.

I agree about Marin's tendency to overdo it on the dribble, which is part of the same thing for me. He's seems very focused on himself right now and isn't doing too much tracking back either. It just seems he should look for his teammates a bit more instead of taking a shot that is likely get blocked or from a bad angle/too far away to have much a chance of beating the keeper. You've seen more of him than I have, but thoes are my impressions from the matches I have seen.

After all thats being said up there, there is a total different attitude evident the team...and its very clear its making its impact on the players, time is of course against us...also as much as many dont believe in luck....we did lose points and games various times due to the lack of quality in the officiating of the games:D...each one of those games could have left us in a whole different section of the table!

There is still some hope...and with a bit of luck and playing more cleaver we might just get the last spot in order to remain in the top flight:D

The trouble is that we have been unable to keep our youngsters, like in the 1970's. Bayern comes along with a big contract so they go there and sit on the bench--but at least they are making a lot of money...

Didn't Lothar Mattheus moved the same way in the 70's?

It was in 1984. The reason why Gladbach fans still have not forgiven him the move is that Gladbach played against Bayern in the DFB-Pokal final that season. Matthäus had told the public before the match that he'd be a Bayern player the season after. The match was decided on penalties, and Matthäus missed his, so Bayern, his new club, won the Pokal.

Wow, it almost sounds like Matthäus was a total a-hole or something. ;)

Damn..I knew about the penalty miss, but I didn't knew about all the story behind it...No wonder people in Gladbach still don't forgive him.

As did Effenberg, but it was later than the '70s.

No luck in Berlin

A fine battling performance in the second half was not enough to prevent Borussia slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Hertha BSC Berlin on Saturday afternoon. Michael Bradley got Borussia's consolation goal.

Situation remains serious

The disappointment in the Borussia camp was still tangible a day after the 2-1 defeat at Hertha BSC. Everyone agreed that this was a game they should never have lost.
