the past year in english football is amongst the worst i can remember!
we got clubs going into liquidation, players fighting "big time", missing drugs tests..... so much more!
its so depressing.
i love my rugby and with our countrys (england) success in the world cup this year it just highlighted the problems in football!!!
so much for the beautiful game........

its so depressing.
thats right mate- and we are the only country in the world to face these problems!
Italy has has a far worse financial problem just to mention the one!

There's really no call to become abusive. Football has its' problems, like many other areas of life, and it is better to address them than to deny them.
On the financial side, I admit to finding the volatility rather exciting. It looks like the number of clubs to go out of existence during the current period of difficulties may end being zero, and the Premiership is getting stronger relative to the other main leagues.
As ever, the culture and discipline of the sport is much more of a concern. The players are lamentably ill-prepared for fame and fortune, compared to American sportsmen, of even foreign footballers, and the leaders of the game, from managers to directors to administrators, are an unsatidfactory bunch. They aren't showing much acceptance of the seriousness of drugs in sport. There is enormous room for improvement in the ethos of football, and it is not negative to press for something to be done.
