Who will win the Americas match-up? Will Pachuca be the first non-UEFA/CONMEBOL club that reaches the final?

Should be another entertaning match, regardless of who's the winner it won't be for a big difference. Maybe LDU to take it 2-1.

How does the current LDU squad compare to the one who won Libertadores in summer? Have many players left to bigger teams? For those who don't know, LDU Quito won the Copa Libertadores on a meager annual budget of USD 6 million.

(a tremendous feat if you think about it)

Since 3 Mexican teams play in the Copa Libertadores every year, the novelty of this matchup is near zero. We have a good idea on how these teams compare already so its shame they weren't put on opposite sides of the brackets.

Should be a good matchup versus Liga, I can't wait.

They lost Enrique Vera to América and Joffre Guerrón to Getafe, I don't think they suffered any other major losses of players though.

they are awful. I just hope that they prove me wrong and for the sake of South America that they advance to the finals and not get knocked out by Pachuca (a very likely possibility)

I saw them play against Boca in the Sudamericana. Boca played a reserve/youth side and beat them 4-0 in La Bombonera and 1-1 in Quito

 LDU finished second this season in the Ecuadoran league. Doesn't sound so awful, but I think the Mexican league is a bit stronger so I would expect Pachuca to be slight favorites.

I think Pachuca will win 2-1.

Of interest, both teams have 3 Argies players and Pachuca also has the only USA
player in the tournament, F. Torres.

i think its dumb. agree that pachuca should be in the other bracket and play against ManU. The concacaf is like a big zit to the Conmebol. We can't get away from them to save our life. What's the use of traveling all the way to Japan to play the same club over? No sense what so ever.

Dude, this isn't WR so chill. When have LDU and Pachuca played? Pachuca did not play in the last Libertadores and I don't remember them ever playing LDU in Lib or Sudamericana.

I wouldn't take much from that, because at that point they were doing bad in their league too, they were focused in the CWC, think that this is a really big and unique chance for a club from Ecuador. Even if Pachuca wins i don't think this'll be a cakewalk like some think.

that's not the point if LDU and Pachuca ever played eachother. the Confederations should not be paired together if they already compete side by side. Hopefully FIFA will change this back to the way it was for obvious reasons. What's the use of traveling all the way to Japan to play clubs from the same Condederation? LDU already dispatched Club America of Mexico in the Semi-final in the Copa Liber. Now they have to play another mexican Club in japan? I'm not a great supporter of this tourney but this is just a little ridiculous.

If Al Ahly had won vs Pachuca then it would be pointless to bring this up. Eventually the winners will meet at some stage :)

But Al Ahly didn't win!! and You are right Eventually winners will meet so Concacaf should not have a problem reaching the finals competing on the european side of the bracket.

What about the CONMEBOL team going that route? I like the tornament as it is, there would be cries of protest no matter how the matchups were. I just like to see good football on display, and the last two games have been pretty good. Actually most would agree that the Pachuca-Ahly game was outstandnig.

Yeah, We already did that from 1960-2004. You might a heard of it? it was called the Copa intercontinental...

the only protest is that Concacaf and Conembol was paired in the same bracket. it must sucks for LDU. I'm sure they would have like to play a club from other confederations beside the Concacaf. Pachuca had the opportunity to play another club from Confederation. or has Pachuca never played against any south american club before?? Its redundant at best.

Pachuca is obviously favorite to win this game. Pachuca has a much better squad. Plus, Ecuadorians always break when facing Mexican teams.

In my opinion, it should be an easy win for Pachuca unless they underestimate their opponent.
