Alright this is the last week-end of Ligue 1 action 'til 10 January 2004. This holiday period is known as the "Mercato" in France. It's the period where teams allow players to take some time off for the holidays then they return to practice a week or two before their first matches. Most clubs will usually hold a mini camp in a very warm place during this period. Transfers also take place during this period and are allowed 'til I believe mid January. FYI, England is the only European country that doesn't have a break during the season.

Well, the big match this week-end is for 2nd place. Lyon and PSG are tied in 2nd but Lyon is ahead on goal differential. The match is at Lyon and will be shown a day later on Saturday on FSW. It should be a great match and this PSG supporter can't wait.

Other matches this week-end include:

Ajaccio (17) -Lens 6)
OM (7) - Toulouse (20)
Bastia (12) - Lille (15)
Bordeaux (11) - Metz (16)
LeMans (19) - Sochaux (4)
Nantes (9) - Auxerre (5)
Nice (8) - Guingamp (18)
Rennes (14) - Monaco (1)
Strasbourg (10) - Montpellier (13)

The point difference between the 2nd - 5th place teams is within a point of one another. Monaco is on fire and are 8 points clear of second place while Auxerre (5) is 4 points ahead of 6th place Lens. This is gonna be a good one.

Allez PSG!!!!!
100% PSG

After the very bad beginning of the season they had, yesterday Rennes confirmed that they are a Giant Killer :) after beating Lyon and a draw against PSG, they beat Monaco with a weaker team (best scorer of preliminary euro2004 turns Alexander Frei was suspended and the young revelation Stephane N'Guema was injured), what a great Xmas present for all the supporters ;)
And with the arrival of the young Swedish Team midfielder Kim Kallstrom, Rennes will definitely want to catch up with the Top 7 teams, and I think they can make it!

ROUGE ET NOIR!

ROUGE ET NOIR!

Welcome Gary.

I'm hoping we get to see Rennes on US tv in 2004, sounds like a fun team to watch, and I've been waiting to see Kallstrom for a couple of years.
