the most surprising thing is that fox broadcasting wants all hd programing by the end 2010 but still if all programs in FSC aren't hd is still has better picture than the standard 480i

For games not produced in HD FSC HD should at least be able to give you a wide-screen picture of 576i (UK SD Standards). I would say that FSC would be trying to get the rights to the CC Championship to get the HD content up.

Currently I believe there is 2-3 EPL games a week produced in HD and 2-3 CC Championship games in HD apart from that I don't know what other European leagues supply a international HD feed.

So it's a sort of "makeshift widescreen," in other words. Is this the reason that on my standard 4:3 set, the score bar on ESPN's Champions League broadcasts sits so deep into the picture?

Whatever it is, it's driving me nuts. A big portion of the action was flat-out blocked during yesterday's Bremen-Inter match, for instance. I thought ESPN had finally figured out the score bar issue during Euro 2008, but with CL it's back to the same old irritation.

All EPL games are produced in widescreen but not all are produced in HD. For the majority of the world having a widescreen SD picture of 576i is standard.

For the CL not all games are available widescreen, if you get a UK feed out of England they will always be available in wide-screen

I am assuming this has to do with the bottom line ticker as I watch the game yesterday on ESPN Pacific Rim and there was no problem at all during the game.

Correct me if wrong, but at the moment I believe only Sky put their Premier League matches in HD. 2010 is a while away, but I would hope that the league itself (who FSC get all league match feeds from) will be broadcasting in HD. Otherwise, FSC would have to pick up the feed from Sky for the 4pm/11am Sunday match and do SD for the rest.

I'm not 100% sure but I think they will supply the HD picture with TWI graphics and commentators but your pretty much right those games are the Sky games. Here in Australia Fox Sports shows 2 games a week on there HD channel and occasionally a 3rd, with the rest of them available on there SD channels. I don't get to see EPL in HD because of my service provider does not offer the HD package but the SD channels are at a 576i quaility with a okay wide-screen picture. Its a lot better picture quaility than what the ESPN station offer, I believe they use the American standards of 480i and its the only Standard def sports channel here that does not offer a widescreen picture

So you're suggesting that the score graphic maintains an absolute position on the screen, irrespective of other elements. And so when the American ESPN adds its ticker, the gameplay video is "bumped up" and blocks itself behind the score bar, in a sense.

That right?

In Italy Sky broadcasts Serie A matches in HD. It would be great if FSC could broadcast them in HD here in the states. Even though I watch Serie A on RAI International because of the Italian commentary, I would easily start watching it on FSC if it were in HD.

The RAI telecasts are awful. It's almost like you're watching SD through dark frosted glass. I SO want Serie A in HD.
