The Big 12 is awful. Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas, and Missouri will probably all lose their bowl games because they were way overrated. Oklahoma and K-State are the only quality sides in the conference. Oklahoma will be in a dogfight against LSU and K-State will be beaten by Ohio State. That says everything about the Big Lowly 12 in 2003.

Ian, I share your passion, but do you really think that OSU has enough offensive fire power to take on Kansas State?
I beg to differ, but I think K-State will carve OSU up like a Thanksgiving day Turkey......

Gotta agree with you, CHICO13.
Can't see OSU giving K-State much of a challenge.
While I agree that the Big 12 is NOWHERE NEAR as good or competitive as the Big 10, I don't think it's as bad or overrated as you think, Ian McCracken.
While I LOVE the Big 10, I will NEVER, EVER root for the Buckeyes. It's "blasphemy" for a Michigan fan to cheer for OSU in ANY game IMHO. So, I hope that K-State kills the Buckeyes.
Seven days & counting until Michigan ends USC's hopes for a national championship (albeit, a split one)!!
GO BLUE!!!!

In the Hawaii Bowl, Hawaii defeats Houston 54-48 in 3 overtimes. Hawaii was up 7, played for more points, instead of running the clock down late, and missed a field goal with about a minute to go. Houston duly marches down the field and ties the game sending it to overtime, but they couldn't convert a 4th and 5 in the 3rd OT to keep the game going.
AFTER the game though, a nice little Christmas brawl broke out with people throwing punches and helmets at each other. The reason for a fight is not really clear. I didn't see most of the game, but I watched the OTs, and I didn't see any tempers flaring. It may have been just one of those things.

that is too bad.
despite my intense hatred of m*chigan, being an ohio state fan and all, i wanna see them do well in every other game of the year BUT in the game...i want every big ten team to win their bowl games, regardless of who it is.
oh well...

I don't know if any of you saw this, but I'm watching the end of the Houston Bowl between Texas Tech and Navy.
Texas Tech scores another TD to go up by 28 points or somethimg and their celebration was to gather the guys around in a circle and throw the ball in the air to land in the middle and when it hits the ground they all fall down like a bomb hit.
Against NAVY!
These are the guys who lay it on the line for our country and these hicks pull that crap.
I'm so offended by that, but what should I expect from the same University that chooses to employ Bobby Knight.

He could have said "will lay it on the line", as they have an obligation for military service after they graduate as I'm sure you're aware of, but you can't deny it was inappropriate not only because of the opponent, or even the score. In the previews leading up to the game I heard Symons claiming they were gonna blow them out but I heard no Navy player say anything at all resembling that, so it's not like it was some sort of revenge or anything. And what were they even celebrating, it was Navy for goodness sakes, they can't recruit just anyone, you have to want to join the military afterwards to go there, and Navy still was marching the ball up and down the field against them, despite being utterly lopsided towards the run. Heading into the fourth quarter I believe they were actually minus some odd yards passing, which is a ridiculous number to still be in the game. So what exactly was Texas Tech proud of? I don't really have a team of preference in the Big 12, but I would generally root for Texas Tech because of their interesting if not entirely effective offense, but they could have lost a lot of casual fans today which could in the end hurt their recruiting. But kudos to their coach for decrying the celebration the way he did, even if he was the one calling the flee flickers and such so late in the fourth quarter when the game was already over.

Yeah, but it was a pretty classless stunt in front of some boys that will probably ship out soon. And from future Wal-Mart "executives" no less.....

What the Texas Tech players did was very classless, considering the opponent.
In other news:
records of USC, Oklahoma, and LSU opponents thus far in bowl games
USC 4-0 (Hawaii, Oregon St, California, Wash St)
Oklahoma 1-2
LSU 0-0

As an Ohio State fan, due to the BCS, you have to root for the other Big Ten teams in non-conference games... but at the same time, I'll never root for Michigan. If they win, they win. But I never 'hope' for them to win.
Go USC.

Fresno State 17 UCLA 9
It may not be good for a Pac-10 school to lose to a WAC team like the 'Dogs, but I'm happy to see Ookluh choke... especially against a state school. :D
And the WAC is 3-0 in bowls apparently.
Meanwhile SC fans wonder why Cal couldn't have beat VA Tech and Wazzou beat Texas before the BCS standings came out...

SEC gets off to a rip roaring start to get its first win in this game and take the first of several SEC-Big 10 match-ups.

Big Ten teams have sucked thus far but as of this writing I'm not sure of the Oregon-Minnesota outcome.
