P.S. Since I didn't know their ages, I left these rather insignificant players out of my figures. If anybody knows any of them, please tell me:
Thomas, Sheldon
Noetzel, Johann
Marcoullier, Paul
Jahr, Chris
Edwards, Ryan
Richardson, Michael
Quesada, David
Zico

I've only tracked year of birth, but here's what I have. The "ors" are a result of only being able to find mentions of age. Kenn T. might be able to provide something better ...
b 1974 Thomas, Sheldon
b 1977 Noetzel, Johann
b 1975 or 1976 Marcoullier, Paul
b 1975 Jahr, Chris
b 1976 Edwards, Ryan
b 1967 or 1968 Richardson, Michael
b 1971 Quesada, David
b 1967 Zico

Thanks Beineke, considering that these guys played a total of somewhere around a thousand minutes, I think that this should be just great for now. If kenn ever comes back here, I'll see if he's got anything more.

Forward: 1929/14410, .134
Midfield: 1301/14479, .090
Defense: 418/4982, .084
The above numbers came from ChrisE on this thread, and they seem appropriate to mention in light of the Metros/Revs game yesterday. The Metros were all over the Revs, but out of their 20 shots listed on the matchtracker, only 3 came from forwards. The stats seem to indicate that too often, they settled for low-percentage shots instead of trying to set up the new guys up top.

What are we looking for again? DOB's on those guys?

That's right kenn, although I've managed to track down Ryan Edwards and Michael Richardson in the last few months.

Apropos of very little, but as of March Jay-Jay Okocha was at 105 shots for the 2003/04 season but not a single goal. For the dubious achievement camp.

Apropos of equally little, but as of May 18th, Alejandro Moreno has only missed one shot off-target. When he's on-frame, he's a ridiculous five-for-five.
Meanwhile, a bright side to the Crew's futility is the fact that fans haven't been subjected to many of Simon Elliott's shot attempts (three misses in six games).

Since this post, Moreno has gone 1 for 18.

Elliott has kept not shooting ...
2004
18 starts
0-8 shooting
6 of his team's 18 assists (33%)
2003
23 starts
1-39 shooting
2 of his team's 33 assists (6%)
2002
26 starts
1-40 shooting
10 of his team's 68 assists (15% under more liberal assist rules)
Although it's interesting that his assists have improved while his shot attempts have declined, I don't think it's because he's chosen to pass when he used to shoot. From what I've seen, he hasn't been pushing forward at all, and his assists have come from the timely, accurate long passes that are his strong suit.

Then of course, Jay-Jay screws with the data miners by popping in two goals for his 04/05 debut, both of them beauties.
Thereby helping to move him comfortably past Djemba-Djemba in the J-J derby.
