Nestor "Pipo" Gorosito is officially River's new coach, taking over Simeone's empty seat on the bench. He won't be with us till January, though, since he has agreed to finish his current campaign with Argentinos Jrs.

I will be the first one to say I am not too happy with Aguilar's decision to give Gorosito the role of DT. Here's why:

1) Gorosito's resume is not all that impressive: in fact, he left a rather poor image at previous clubs such as Lanus and San Lorenzo.
2) Argentinos Jrs. is a small club, and if Pipo really was as great as Aguilar and the media try to make him seem, they would have not let him go so easily. Do you think they would have done the same if Ramon Diaz, Bianchi, or even Gallego were their coach?
3) I get the impression that Aguilar is attempting to obtain a coach whom he has power over. Previous coaches like Passarella and Simeone had a strong say at the club: they got the reinforcements they requested, and they kept the players they wanted. Will a lower-profile coach like Gorosito be able to keep his Falcao's and Buonanotte's? Will he get the million dollar reinforcements he wants? In my opinion Aguilar is trying to re-gain the control that he had over Merlo and Astrada, for example.

Hopefully Nestor proves me wrong and wins everything, from the Libertadores to the Club World Cup. I don't see this being a too successful spell, but then again, did we have many other options? After Gallego discarded himself as a candidate, our only other option was Omar Labruna. Was the big-headed son of the great Angelito a much better option? Probably not.

Regarding 2) you got to if it's bad at all for Argentinos Juniors, because Pekerman is sounding as the main candidate to replace Gorosito.

The thing with the candidates is that Aguilar was going to have a meeting with all of them and then decide, Gallego discarded himself, Redondo rejected the meeting, Batista was about to reject it, then you had Labruna and Pumpido who looked like complicated to be signed.

LOL What do you think about gallardo because he is at my team DC United, and he could bge a very valuable assett to the team next season if he can stay healthy. MLS is rough as shit, and idont know if he can help it.

Y que pasara con buenanote? unos de mis amigos han dicho que se ira a espana? Que equipo porque ese chatito...c ar ajo ya es un crack'.

Gallardo left River in what, 2006? And back then he was playing pretty bad. The team clearly played better without him. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that 3 years later he should be doing a lot worse than before. Even if he remained at the same level, I wouldn't want him back. He's way past his prime

Regarding Buonanotte, he is said to have good chances of leaving, though no official offer has been made. We must just wait and see what happens.

It seems chances are better for Gallardo to return than Ortega.

I don't know where you get your sources from, but everything I've seen has said the exact opposite (Ortega close, Gallardo's chances getting smaller). In fact, Aguilar was quoted as saying that yesterday, so.....

Ortega says he would return if he's called, Independiente Rivadavia's president said he would let him go if they asked him to. But there's a little detail... River didn't call Ortega yet. What's with the delay?
It's like when River signed Salcedo, they announced it over and over and over yet the offer took a while.

Anyway regarding Aguilar's quote, i just heard that River should pay Independiente Rivadavia U$S1,200,000 for finishing the loan early and that indeed Aguilar claimed that 3 of the 4 signings will be, Abreú, Domingo and Ortega. Aguilar said that yes, now how much truth is behind that is not known.

Looks like Ortega might not even come back for like another 6 months, till his deal with Indpte. Time to move on without him. As for Gallardo, I really hope he doesn't come back to River. He doesn't have much to offer, I think his time has gome by and maybe he can return to some other team thats not River.

The players Gorosito has in mind to bring to River are some what of good choices. Ginazu and that kid from Argentino Jrs, Mercier I believe his name is. Looks like Ahumada will be leaving soon :) hopefully.

Really dont know much on the player from la U Catolica from Chile that Ole mentioned a few days ago. So far the chilenos they have brought to River have done pretty well.

If Conca does return, maybe that can be the player that can be associated with el Enano on the attack, he has good dribbling and a shots very well from outside the box. We need playmakers. I know he isn't all that crazy in returning for the reason that they didn't have him in their plans before, I think it was Pasarella, but maybe this time he can get some playing time .

Leo, the player Ole mentioned was Gary Medel. He's a straight up stud and he's not nicknamed "Pitbull" for nothing.
