Eric here. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and turn 31 today. I sell wireless service for Cingular, which is why I am often busy before, during and after matches, and thus unable to post comments here along with everyone else. Also I don't have my own PC, but likely gonna get one soon. I played soccer as a youngster, but eventually gave it up for swimming and running (I ran track/cross-country all through high school and college). Like most Americans, I gave nary a thought to soccer for most of my youth after quitting, but became an addict during the '94 WC, like Joe McGinniss. After re-discovering the sport, I had a few European friends in college who urged me along and excercised Job-like patience in explaining to me everything from on-field tactics to how European leagues and cups worked. I was hooked, and delighted when it started appearing more and more on TV.
Back then, ESPN showed EPL matches, and the first team I noticed were Manchester United. It was hard not to notice them, and I loved the way they played. They were energetic, fearless and had a definite swagger. And I admired their obvious desire to conquer the world, critics be damned. They were fun to watch, and I came to love the club after learning more and more about them.
I was fortunate enough to get to go to Manchester 2 years ago with MUSCUSA and saw United play Liverpool. We also saw Everton v. Newcastle (that kid Rooney scored for the Toffees) and had quite a lot of fun touring Manchester and York. We were treated like VIP's at OT, btw. The Europa suite, free beer and food, the works. I hope to go back again this year, if there is a group willing to stay longer than the 3 days of the official sponsored trip. I have been accused of being a glory-hunter, having come to United at the height of their dominance, and realize that the American Man U fan is synonymous with the term poseur throughout England. But now that I have been there and am part of the Red community, I cannot imagine supporting any other club, ever.

My name's Mike and I'm 20 years old. Born in Edinburgh but residing just outside Livingston, with a stint ins Deutschland inbetween. My dad's been going to OT since the '60s and thoroughly enjoyed the barren years. Luckily for me I've only been around for the Fergie years. So therefore my link to the club is through family. My time is mainly taken up with university (Dundee) and my local club Livingston. Interest wise is mainly sport, travel and music, with all being very varied. My football career was kicked to touch when I went in for a 10/90 tackle, won the ball, but crippled my knee. Now I'm mainly restricted to mucking around with friends, although I have been given the all clear to fully train again this year and I'm currently playing for a Livi supporters team. If I get my fitness back, then I might look into doing things more regularly with an established team. Oh and my hair is currently past my shoulders, so that's an image for you to enjoy. That's about it. Any questions welcomed.

RIP Acronym and manc_sean :(

Good luck on getting back to 100% for the footy ... I've been there and know how hard it is. Keep us informed ... Cheers!!

* Numquam Moribimur is latin for "we'll never die"

there was a banner on the stretty end that said it
That should be the official motto. I like clubs that have latin mottoes. So much deeper than you get in U.S. sports.

Well boy, My name's Jon, 15, and I've been playing soccer since I was 5, and I'm on a list of top 100 freshman players in the country. I live in Tulsa, Ok, most borin' place ever. We went to regionals and nationals this past year and we won regionals (i was golden boot scored 10 goals in 6 games) and then our team faltered at Nationals due to personal tradgedy's to a younger brother of one of our captains. I look to play college soccer, I'm pretty sure I can get a scholarship to most places as my dad and I have already talked to a couple of scouts (i just got into highschool so it's finally allowed), oh ya, and my dream is to one day play for Manchester United ;).

Too bad I'm one of the most injury prone kids on my team - just for the lower back though. I have a chipped Vertebrae wing, something on which I can't get surgery on 'til 35, so as long as my back muscles are strong enough, it's fine. But otherwise, it can be very painful :(

Ah, so it turns out he's "nationally ranked". ;)

(Someone else got that joke, right?)
