You should read the thread about Michelle Lissell in the Fox Sports World forum... (she's the female host of The Fox Sports Report)

I can only imagine some of the letters Julie Foudy must have gotten when she worked on ESPN's crew for the 1998 World Cup. Tommy Smyth would have nothing in comparison.

Well, but of course my guy is ambivalent about football . . . I guess that's just the way it works!

And thanks for the welcome, toga.

Hey everyone. My name's Eric. I'm 24 and live in Charleston, SC. I just recently discovered this message board, so I'm rather new to it. I haven't posted much but I really enjoy reading everyone else's posts.

When I did a study abroad in Australia in 2002, I made friends with a few guys from England and they got me into watching England during the World Cup. They were also United fans so that's how I got to be a United supporter. I'm also a big England national team fan, which some people find odd b/c I'm American. Oh well, the US team is crap.

Hi, my name is Hannah I live in the Los Angeles area, I started liking Manchester United back in 1991 when Giggs started playing for United. Ever since then I have been hooked. I played all through high school and a little in college. Now I just play for fun. I'm 22 and work as a rec assistant at the moment.

Yeah johno, you tell Zook, if he needs help packing his U-Haul, I am definitely available. . . ;) Go Gators!

Also, what a small world with your living in G'ville. I don't know Gainesville High very well, as I've only been here for a short time, and at UF, of course. It is a fun town though. Wish it were closer to the beaches, but I guess it was a blessing to be landlocked during the hurricane season. If you're missing it, I'm happy to report that it's rained EVERY SINGLE afternoon since mid-August. Aren't you glad there are "seasons" where you live?

Wow, it's actually highly possible that I'll be living in Manchester soon, schooling at the re-united University of Manchester. It's like a dream-come(-ing hopefully-)true!

Fell in love with watching the sport during the 2002 World Cup (my roommate at the time had a hacker friend who unlocked his PPV -- we stayed up every night watching the games for free. . . shhhh!! ).

Uhh, not sure where you were in the summer of 2002. But if you were in Florida, this hacker friend of your roommate pulled your (and roommate's) leg, or did some fake showing off. Because the matches weren't on PPV.They were on free to air ESPN2/ESPN/ABC. Unless you're talking about the Euro 2004, but it wouldn't be during nighttime in Florida.

Anyway, welcome! :)

Sean, 19, born and bred in Wythenshawe, go to Salford uni and have been going to United home games for 12 years (season ticket for 9 years) and haven't missed a match (home or away, Europe too) for 3 years. Best United moment ever was obviously 1999 Champions League final in Barcelona - I was there. Other United highlights include meeting Eric Cantona and punching Ian Wright outside Highbury (true story).

Well, you're right about the World Cup television schedule!! My bad on that one. We did have the PPV unlocked for a few months at the time of the World Cup, and I guess I was mixing the two up together. It looks like I must've been catching most of the games on ESPN2, from the online schedule.

Unfortunately, I have returned to my usual law-abiding self, so I missed a great majority of the Euro 2004 PPV games. :(

Thanks for saying hello, and apologizes for my mistake.

It was actually a couple of seasons ago when we drew 2-2 and I spotted Wright walking outside Highbury so being a bit worse for wear and remembering how much I hate him I swung for him as he passed me and caught him on the mouth. We didn't hang around to see what happened after.

Punching someone just walking down the street. Your parents must be so proud.

And at that not in a fight or a situation where the guy's got any warning. Just a sucker punch and then takes off runnin'. Ya, that takes some yarbols.

Very proud. Any chance to punch Ian Wright has to be taken.
