I am 37 (for three more weeks) and a finance lawyer in Chicago. I started following Man Utd in 1995 when I read a SI article about an English soccer team with a worldwide fan base. I was a causual fan by 1999 but after watching the CL final I was hooked and have followed them progressively closer ever since. With Fox Sports World and the internet it has become easy to do.

Hey, frequent reader (couple of times daily), infrequent poster. My name is Andy, just turned 33, live in Los Angeles. All of my friends are completely ambivalent about soccer so this forum is a blessing. I started dating a girl from Manchester back in '98 and we did the long distance thing for four years, flying back and forth, daily phone calls, etc. I started to follow her local team whenever I'd fly over and was finally was able to see a match at OT. Lucky me, it was a scoreless draw with Newcastle -- I think it was the first time there had been a scoreless draw at OT in several seasons. Anyway, long story short, United has gone from an interest to an obsession.
I had played soccer for about 10 years until I basketball took over in my late teens. I went to Georgetown and got back into soccer by playing on the Mall. Now I practice as much as I can, play some occasional indoor, but have yet find a good league. I'm looking forward to a solid season from here on out and we'll see if y'all can keep up with me in Fantasy Footie.
Oh, yeah, that Manchester girl and I got married and she lives out here with me now. Viva la immigration!

Sup peeps. I'm soon to be 17 years old and a Junior in High School. I was born in Trinidad and currently live in New York. I've been following United since '98(when Yorke joined. I wanted to follow him as he is Trini) but it soon evolved into something more. I've played soccer(casually) all my life though.

Why didn't you start supporting Aston Villa?
Because I wasn't into watching soccer on TV that much. But when Yorke went to Man Utd, everyone was talking about it so I payed attention.

>Coach is harmless
I think that was meant as a compliment, coach, but I suspect it wasn't seen as that. In fact coach is an obnoxious, snivelling arsenal fan whose mother kept the afterbirth and threw out the baby when he was born. At least that's IMHO ;)

A friend of mine doomed me in the early 90s when picking up a jersey on a trip to England. I figured I'd support whomever it was. Well, I shouldn't say doomed. If he would've picked up Grimsby's jersey, I would've been doomed.

Love this thread.
I am 26, Live in Miami. I am a first year law student at UM. Played soccer growing up until I got into basketball. SOccer came back into my life with the 94 WC and the launch of MLS. First started liking Manchester United way back in the late 80's early 90's when I read a magazine article about a young man in the youth system. I started avidly following them when about 2-3 years ago when I got FSW. Now in Miami I have no TV (it will eventually get here when the wife moves down) so I have to follow them on the Internet.

Very interesting topic here, you get to learn about the others. I am just shocked by how much i just don't know. The posters like Achtung, Billy Ireland, MtKill... are all so young yet the most deserving of an epitaph like the "old Wise men".
Well anyway...I am Robert, hence my id name, I am 25 years old, hence my usernames number. I live outside LA in a city called Ontario. No Not Canada, Ontario california. How did I choose Manchester United? Their playing appealed to me when i started watching about 2-3 years ago. I liked players like Giggs, most of all Scholes and soon was hoping to see a Reds game on FSw. Thats how I got started.

Yeah, I put in my post -- way back near the beginning of this thread -- that my team, Ireland's 4 Courts, is in the NVSL. We're actually in the Premier Division with Berserkers.
I play outside back, usually (almost always) on the left.

Hi I am William. Why Billy in my username? because my girlfriend prefers to call me Billy, about Manutd you get the idea. I am from the worst soccer national team in South America, do you know which country is it? I'm 20, majoring in Business Administration at Brooklyn College. I was goalkeeper of my HS futsal team and will be in a tryout for the college men's volleyball team. I follow soccer since I was 14 but didn't follow a specific team until 2001 when I went to England and my cousin took me to OT, so then I began to support United.

Would you belive me if I told you they are building another huge A*s mall just a mile or two away from the Mills? Thats what we have a lot of here in So. Cal., Hot girls, malls, traffic, and sun.
