Hey folks, DJ here...I registered on this board quite some time ago and don't post a whole lot, but I enjoy reading everyone's posts and keeping up to date on United through various posters' info. I started following United after watching the one and only Eric Cantona play several years ago during a Champions League match televised by ESPN2. I was a young'un, but I knew at that moment that United was my team. I have followed them closely in the years since, and my fervor for the team has grown intensely over the past couple of years.
I LOVE getting up early on Saturday mornings to watch United live on Fox Sports World, and hope that someday I'll be able to see a game live at Old Trafford.
I reside in Columbus, Ohio, and am looking forward to making the trek to Chicago this summer and watching the boys play.

hi, name's Greg. i'm 19 and live about 2 hours south of Buffalo by the NY/PA boader. played since i was 5 on any team i could, i'm a keeper but don't play much often anymore, there aren't any adult rec leagues around so i play with friends. in college for computer science. became a united fan about 4 years ago when watching a CL game on espn, they seemed to be the only team that they ever showed, so i watched them. didn't get FSW until a year and a half ago, so i didn't get to see them except for CL games. when i did get FSW i really started to follow them. there is now where around here to watch games with a bunch of people, this area is heavily HS football, so i watch them at home when i can.

Hey, I'm Cait. I'm probably the youngest one posting on this thread, but oh well. I'm only 15, from Kansas City (which is in KS and MO, I'm in MO GET IT RIGHT! j/k). Umm... I'm a freshman... Wizards fan all the way. But I guess it depends on who you ask if I'm really a fan, because a few people (actually just one, but why single HER out?) told me that I have "the wrong motives." Is it wrong to support your team, but also ask for their jerseys? As long as you support them, and are dedicated, I'm missing the problem. Anyway, umm... Go Wizards!

I like Manchester, too! Would I be here if I didn't? I don't get the right channels to watch Man U games or any international game unless it's on ESPN or ESPN2. If I could afford it, I would order the channels so I'd be able to see all the teams I wish I could, but sadly I am poor and only have money from babysitting and tutoring. Sucks being under 15 and too busy to get a job...
I share this BS account with a friend, so sadly, I did not make the profile. But I swear, I am a Man. U fan. I'm actually wearing 2 Man U sweatshirts right now (It's a bit cold in the mid west).
Now, I must go fix my profile. :-) Thanks for pointing that out for me! I'll also have to kick my buddy's butt for leaving Man U out!
Later!

I'm Frank Luera, 18, from Sacramento California, home of 'that' govenor. Ive been a big soccer player my whole life, but parents wanted me to focus on studies. My fascination in Man Utd began with Beckham a few years back, and i began following the team via internet stats. It wasn't till a few months back when i discovered FSW and began watching matches, and thats when fadcination turned to love for this team. I would love to see them in action in either on their U.S. tour or even better at Old Trafford itself.
And with this i conclude my very 1st post on big soccer.

My name is Cory, I'm 30 and live in Ft Wayne Indiana. I played two years of college ball, then had a chance to play semi pro ball..... I took it and spent six years travelling the country, fulfilling my ambitions, and extending my adolesence :)
I now play 5 nights a week in various amature indoor leagues, I play/train 7 days a week - outdoors - during warm weather months.
I am a high school head coach (boys), and a middle school head coach (same boys I'll see at the high school), and I have my own soccer camps and teach skills clinics for two of the three local clubs (psssst... I may be teaching at the brand new one in the spring, don't tell the others though). I work a real job, believe it or not...................... at a soccer store!
I'm married to a soccer widow who actually gave me my own room in the house we had built, it is filled with all of my pictures, posters, signed jerseys, banners and balls. It is my sanctuary where I watch games from my own couch on a big tv with surround sound, and post on bigsoccer on my computer. I AM SPOILED!
I have been a red devils fan since 1986, the last days of Big Ron, and the first days of Sir Alex. Sparky was the player who grabbed my attention, and Giggs was only a month younger than me when he made his debut - that sealed the deal for me. I do NOT love Manchester united because they win all the time, I DO love them because they play the most beutiful soccer I have ever watched - technical, creative, and impassioned. I am in a sour mood for days when they lose or play badly, and I'm on a high when they shine.
Nice to meet you all.

I am a new member to big soccer.
I am 14years old and prolly the youngest person to post on this thread. I have been a Man U fan for about 5 years, and I recently saw them play in philly on the US Tour(It was awesome). Whenever there is a game on tv you can bet that i am watching it. Although, I dont have satellite or the specialty channels (FSW,GolTV). It is great to see how many people have the same intense passion for the game as me.

I'm Joe from Mississippi (hopefully not for long) and I'm 17, starting for my highschool and played club in our capital (Jackson) in the fall. Been following Man Utd for 3 years since my good friend and soccer adviser (30+ age I'd guess) got me into watching the club.
thanks

Real name is Andrew Dixon, III
GWU Class of 1992, thereby addressing the obligatory DC connection for this thread
I am a prosecuting attorney in Ft. Lauderdale.
Grew up playing basketball and have 5 Division 1 appearances for GW in the 88-89 season in which we tied a record for most losses in a season.
Grew up watching soccer whenever it was on. Became a fan the instant I saw Diego Maradona do his slalom through the English defense in 1986.
Became a big fan of the game during the '94 World Cup going to 2 games at RFK (Italy Mex, Holland-Saudi Arabia) and one at Foxboro (Arg-Nigeria). Became a real fan of club football when DC United opened up shop a couple of years later.
One day in October I was flipping channels and saw some guy with black wavy hair going full speed of the left side, turning his defender inside out. It was Ryan Giggs and started following the team then and there. Quickly became fans of Giggs, Cantona and Paul Ince.
Started playing in spring of 95 in a Co-Ed league on the mall (Capital Co-Ed if there are any alumni) and have been playing ever since. Simply love the game.
Continued following MUFC after moving to S. Florida, going to Hooters to watch Champions League games before I got cable but absolutely, positively fell in love with the side in 1999. Not because of the Bayern Munich game or the Juve game before it but from the FA Cup Semifinal replay at Villa Park against Arsenal. Until the Real Madrid game at OT last year, I thought it was the greastest club game I had ever seen and watching Giggs goal still makes me pump my fist 4 and a half years later.
Going on 10 years and I swear the love affair with the side grows every year. I love the team, I love how they play. I've seen some players that I really like come and go (yorke, cole, staam, ince, kachelkis, and of course beckham) but I can't imagine supporting another team this way. It was an absolute dream to see them at Giants Stadium last July and hope to see them again soon.

sup yall Im Traver. Im 15 years old and live in Quantico, VA. Ive only been following soccer since June 5, 2002. I used to live in SC and there we had a year round school schedule and that day i was suspended for gettin into a fight. I turned on espn when i woke up expecting to see Sportscenter but instead i saw the last 5 min of the US-Portugal match. the announcers were talking about how that match was such a big upset adn i watched the replay and was hooked. After the world cup i started watching MLS.I used to live in Albany before SC so i decided to take the metrostars as my MLS team. i also decided to try and follow european soccer. i only knew of one player David Beckham so i followed Manchester United. I wasnt as passionate about the Red than i was about the metros though. I wouldnt even search for their scores or visit their site just if i saw their score on the front page of soccernet i would sometimes look. I didnt relieze i liked them so much until i watched last seasons champions league QF. i was planning on watching it just to see some good soccer. But when they were struggling to score and i saw rudd getting harrased by scoleri and i saw giggs get fouled when he had that one breakaway attempt i was getting extreamly pissed off. Usually when i say i like United people think im a bandwagoner but i dont think thats the case. I think that united simply found me. Unfortunaly we dont have digital cable:( so the only other united matches ive seen are the next leg of that QF the group game this season against rangers and the last 30 min of the evertnon game thats was on a replay on comcast. Im tryin to go to one of theyre tour games in NYC or Philly.
I never thought about playing soccer(thought it was for *#*#*#*#) until watching the WC. now i play all the time and have turned into a pretty good fullback for my HS team adn i plan on trying out for a club team next year. Damn ive typed alot :)

Right on!! here goes... My name, oddly enough, is Donny. I'm 33 and finishing the Ph.D. thang out here in Elvis-land. Being a Va. Beach native, soccer was uncommonly popular in the Va. schools, all you NoVA folks know exactly of what I speak, so it was the thing, besides gridiron, to go watch in high school. So I was the casual fan growing up. Anywho, I trace my passion for the Red Devils back to right after I got hooked on our Nats boys by World Cup '94 and needed to see more high level soccer. So some my high school buddies had tapes of United and the English leagues. Then got to watch Giggs, Scholes and Becks come up. (As an aside this is the time where my DC United passion was born also). So, I'm just another glory hunter who hasn't been to Old Trafford yet ( after my Ph.D I swear), but it's all good.... Why? Because there's nothing wrong with admiring, respecting, and supporting outstanding achievement. I'm not a player, but I love this game!! Thanks to all y'all for sharing!!

They call me Mac - my father tells me that was my first attempt to speak my name (Malcolm) more years ago than I care to remember now. Born 15 miles north east of Old Trafford and spent four wasted years at Manchester University studying electronic engineering.
Played soccer (football where I come from) all my life - the highest level a right wing for Man U first team. Unfortunately the U stands for Uni not Utd :)
I moved to Western Australia in 1996 and became a Perth Glory fan (they call them the Man Utd of Australia) but now rely on Fox Sports for my Utd fix.
In 1982 I programmed a soccer match simulator to predict pools results. I expanded it to predict a whole season of Division One football. Then I had the idea of "managing" Man Utd through this season - the soccer management game was born - I called it League Division One and it began a whole new genre of computer games.
The Collyers, originators of Championship Manager, have kindly said that that game and my later Mexico 86 (international management) inspired them to write CM. If you want something less pretty and big but with greater realism and depth then you should look out for my Sick as a Parrot which has been described as "The thinking fans soccer management game". It's hard work but worth it in the end.
Found this board a couple of years ago and now living 11,000 miles from home I find a lot in common with the US fans.
