what do we think of him so far?
i think he has a little superstar-itis, but the potential is there.
should he be getting regular shifts instead of van persie/adebayor?
discuss~

he is about to be 21... he will get it... we, as fans, expect everyone to be Cesc when they are young players... when Cesc was just a freak of nature...
even tho his finishing was poor tonight, he helped set up 2 chances... he will come good, it will take time... but really he is our 3rd/4th striker right now which is right where he should be

He could do with a change of mentality / attitude. His potential is in jeopardy of being wasted if he is too cocky / arrogant to listen to the others that are needed to bring him along. He is the young player that I worry about the most. The talent is there, but I am not sure whether he is making the most of his situation. His earlier comments about being better than all of the current strikers besides Henry a few years ago, to his bust-ups with his teammates, to his need to wear pink boots all show an arrogance that I do not care for - especially from someone that is not producing the goods on a regular basis.

some of his passing and interplay is amazing.
that flick to randall was bergkamp-esque.

I would normally tend agree with what you have said. However, the problem with Bendtner is his mentality. He seems to think he should be 1st choice. I'm not saying there is something wrong with a little bit of ego...every great player has a pretty big ego. Bendtner's problem is...well to use a cliche...he talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. Right now his performance isn't coming close to matching his own assessment of himself and if his performances don't start catching up to his ego....I can't see him lasting at Arsenal beyond the end of the 09-10 season. But like phishy said, the potential is there...I just hope his ego doesn't prevent him from harnessing his potential.

and then when a striker gets injured everyone will moan about being "short" at that position....

Perhaps this is a question best left to Qui Gon and Yoda...

You’re starting this thread straight after the Burnley game and while his performance wasn’t particularly good, neither were many of the other Arsenal players on that night.
Sticking to the question though he is still young and expecting him to be world class at this age is asking a lot. However I’ve never been his biggest fan and I do believe he’s been able to retain his place at Arsenal is purely because of his height, as outside Adebayor there isn’t any other target man to lead the line. I do believe he should have been loaned out to gain more consistant playing time and at a lower league club where he can earn a better reputation.

Well, when he was loaned out to Birmingham, he scored bags of goals and helped them win promotion to the Prem. He may be one of those guys who's too good for the Coke League, but not quite good enough for the Prem.

If I remember correctly Ade was the best when he first showed up (or before he got here) either. He's only 20, and I think he shows signs that he'll be there soon.
He drives me nuts sometimes, but he'll get there.

Exactly. IIRC, his numbers compare favorably to RVP and Ade's first full seasons with the club. Writing him off at this stage is lunacy. He WILL come good.

I really dont know how you got that from the game tonight, or how he has looked this season... his attitude seems to have improved a lot from a couple of seasons ago... (talking about attitude if their is any confusion)
he just needs to work hard off the pitch

Is Nik the young kid from Adventures in Babysitting that had the crush on Elizabeth Shue? Just grown up and with bad hair and boots?

What evidence of that do you have, and what attitude flaw are you referring to - the bad mannered one or the overconfidence one?

if he could finish you would all be hailing him as some thulsa doom saviour or something
he will improve, hes already a very good player at 20
questionable work rate and finishing but both can be worked on
for 65k he was a bargain
would u swap him for marlon harewood?
