Da Silva moved to Stuttgart....does anyone know the transfer fee they paid? :(

-------------------------------------------------------

Stuttgart have agreed terms with Bundesliga rivals Mainz for midfield playmaker Antonio da Silva.

The Schwaben have been struggling going forward all season and see da Silva as the man to help solve some of their problems.

After agreeing a transfer fee with Mainz over the weekend, Stuttgart are now looking forward to holding talks with the 27-year-old Brazilian.

"I'm delighted that we have reached this stage after striking a deal with Mainz," Stuttgart general manager Horst Heldt told the club's official website.

"Antonio da Silva has shown at Mainz that he is able to fulfil the playmaker role at the highest level and in addition he is an extremely useful dead ball specialist."

Between 1 and 2 million. VfB wanted 1 million, Mainz 2 - they reached a compromise, i don't know exactly how much though...

It's times like these that I really hate being a fan of a small club! Ah well, we got Toni from SV Wehen... maybe there's some other undiscovered gem floating around in the regionaliga to replace him with. :)

0-0 at home to Hannover :(

Looking at the next 3 fixtures - a small matter of a derby with Eintracht Frankfurt, then Bayern, then Schalke.......a point at home to Hannover is not good enough...this is nailbiting times :(

With the way Wolfsburg is playing, you can definetely keep up your hopes up.

Your attack doesn´t run since Zidan is injured.

When he´s back, it will run better again. :)

0-0 away in the derby isn't too bad a result

and other results went Mainz' way (Kaiserslautern , Duisberg losing,Wolfsburg and Koln not winning).....the next 2 fixtures don't come much tougher however (Schalke & Bayern!)

Schalke is off-form and pretty much with nothing to play for the rest of this BL season so an upest against them is not out of the question.

Bayern and Schalke at home, then 2 crunch battles against Wolfsburg (away) and Duisburg (away again)

hopefully Schalke and Duisburg will have nothing to play for by the time we reach these games ;)

You have a good chance, IMO K'lautern have a more difficult shedule plus you have 3 more points and a lot better goal difference. They need to play Bayern home too plus they visit Frankfurt and Wolfsburg both with a lot to play for. I think Mainz will stay up

more on Da Silva and some quotes

-------------------------------------------------

Mainz midfielder Antonio da Silva will join Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart this summer after agreeing personal terms with the Schwaben on Monday.

The Brazilian playmaker put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion after the two clubs agreed terms earlier this month.

No details of the fee involved have been revealed although it is thought to be in the region of €1.5 million (£1 million).

"I'm delighted that we have wrapped up the move," said Stuttgart sport director Horst Heldt on Monday.

"He is an important piece in the puzzle we are building for next season. We are convinced that he has the ability to help us and are looking forward to him giving our offensive game a boost."

Da Silva expressed his delight at joining 'a big Bundesliga club' after spending several years at more unfashionable clubs in Germany.

"I want to play my part in helping VfB achieve its goals and to continue to develop as a player myself," said da Silva.

probably would have taken a 2-2 draw before the start of the game but disappointed a little after leading for 2 goals :)

Its looking as if Mainz will survive again, good job to them. Their fans shouldn't celebrate yet, but things are looking good for them.
