Wache stays after turning down Dortmund :)
-----------------------------------------------------
Mainz goalkeeper Dimo Wache looks likely to sign a new deal with the club after turning down an offer from Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund boss Bart van Marwijk (pictured) was hoping to sign Wache as a reliable number two to the unpredictable Roman Weidenfeller.
Frenchman Guillaume Warmuz will not have his contract renewed next summer but it seems as though Wache will not be heading to replace him.
"We couldn't reach an agreement with Wache," said a Dortmund statement.
31-year-old Wache is now expected to pen a fresh two-year deal with the Bundesliga newcomers.
Michael Thurk is back in mainz.
Heartwarming story, maybe some of you don't remember it anymore.
Thurk played for Mainz when they were still in the 2nd Bundesliga and then signed a contract for Cottbus, hoping they would get promoted.
Well, we all know how that turned out.
Thurk even scored the decisive goal that for Mainz and was seen crying afterwards because he knew he had to stay in the 2nd Bundesliga..
Hanno Balitsch will also join Mainz from Leverkusen.

Null-eins, null-zwei, null-drei, null-vier....
NULL-FÜNF, NULL-FÜNF, NULL-FÜNF, NULL-FÜNF!!!!!
Very likeable club. Spent a semester in Mainz back in 1996 when Abderrahim Ouakili was their best player and the Bruchweg still had a track around it. Kramny was even playing back then. Not sure if there's anyone else still on the team from those days.

I guess that Klopp played for them in '96.

Bochum fell apart. This is surely a message that Bochum will be in Liga Zwei next year. Its ok though, because they are on bad form and we play them in two weeks. And on our present form, we're gonna need all the help we can get.

Forget it.
Under current contract conditions, Voronin has to return to 1. FC Koln if they are promoted to the 1. Liga. Leverkusen are trying to work out something to keep him there.

Mainz vs. Bayern Munich
This is the next match on the Mainz fixture list. Mainz has a WHOLE heck of a lot more to play for than the Bavarians.
I see a 1-0 win for Bayern...but would not be shocked with a 1-1 or Mainz getting a win. Honestly, what does Bayern have to play for?

Mainz have been handed a massive boost with the news that Jurgen Klopp has agreed a new deal.
Klopp has verbally agreed a deal to keep him at Mainz until the summer of 2006.
Although the highly-regarded coach has not put pen-to-paper yet, managing director Christian Heidel confirmed that the deal is agreed.
“We exchanged a hand-shake like we used to do in the past. Jurgen Klopp is a stroke of luck for the club,” stressed Heidel.
Klopp, a long-serving player at Mainz, was promoted to coach the second division team in 2001 on a caretaker basis when relegation was looming and was handed a permanent basis after saving the club from relegation into the third division.
In the next two seasons Mainz missed out on winning promotion to Die Bundesliga in dramatic circumstances at the final week of the season, before securing their place in Germany's top flight last summer.
Mainz boosted their survival hopes on Saturday with a 6-2 thumping of Bochum

Good job, Mainz!
In my opinion he has been the fourth best coach in the BL this year, behind Doll, Rapolder and Goetz(the Berlin trainer, i don't know if the spelling is right)
Klopp is the kind of coach who can do a great job with small teams like this, but i don't think he is ready to take on a stronger side, so a good move by both parties, imo.

Go Mainz! Very good job on staying in the Bundesliga this year. In fact, it´s the first time in Bundesliga history that all promoted teams will stay up. Anyway, that was a good game on Saturday. Too bad that Makaay put it out of reach. That being said, this team is great and I hope they will do even better next season.

Otto Addo has always been one of our favorites in Dortmund. I hope he does well for FSV Mainz 05.
Best of luck to both Addo and his new club!!

FSV Mainz 05 Acquires Otto Addo From Borussia Dortmund
Otto Addo will play next season for FSV Mainz 05. The 29 year old midfielder of fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund is moving to Mainz on a free transfer and pending the results of a medical examination, will sign a contract until 2007 for the Bundesliga with an option held by both parties for an additional season. The club made this announcement on Tuesday evening.
The Ghanaian international, who has 12 caps, had been under contract with Dortmund since 1999. Addo played in 75 matches for BVB, scoring 11 goals. After three serious knee injuries, Addo had made his way back to Dortmund's Bundesliga team again.
