what do you mean he blew it? he had a knee injury
well the thing is i'm his fan so to say, and i've been following since he took Once Caldas to win the Libertadores Cup that is like the CL for you guys, then when they did not wanted to sell him the trouble started.
about the note i saw it like in december here is the adress in spanish i'll comeback to translate it later Soto banned for 4 months (http://www.lapatria.com/Noticias/ver_noticia.aspx?CODNOT=28391&CODSEC=6)
Uhm, that is what he said.
He "blew out" his ACL means, he "ripped out" his ACL...as in "broke it" or "tore it".
The ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) is part of the knee were most athletes tear their ligaments.
I had surgery for this as well...not fun!

as another posted said... I never said he "blew it"... I said he "blew out" his ACL... which means (perhaps my English is too colloquial) he sustained a knee injury to his anterior cruciate ligament.
Just so you know, I'm a big fan of Soto's. He unfortunately has just been injured most of his time with us here in Mainz. The guy has such great technical ability (fantastic really). He runs forever, too. But what has most impressed me about him is that he's a terrier on defense as well, even though he's not at all a big guy. I (and all our fans) hope he's able to regain his form as quickly as possible... although after two bad knee injuries, it remains to be seen, I guess. But if he plays like he did before his injury last season... he'll be a vitally important part of our team heading into the promotion battle. He was already becoming a fan favorite. A fit Soto, Feulner, Gunkel, and Pekovic in our midfield and we will be VERY hard to beat. (and hopefully we can find a 'keeper that can stay healthy...down to our 3rd string...and now he's hurt! DOH!
Can't wait for the season to start up again!

What a superb last-minute free kick goal from Soto in the derby against Kaiserslautern!

If you win 2 of the remaining 3 games (at home against Aachen & St. Pauli, away in Köln), re-promotion should be perfect.

duuuude! don't blow it for us! we've been in this position before, don't forget! :)
But Soto's shot was a thing of beauty, it's so good that he's getting back on the pitch, we've missed his creativity, industry, and yes, free kicks. Even better that it sent 'lautern back to their farms with 0 points.

Well, I better shouldn't...
What a huge setback in the home game against Aachen! Now you simply can't afford losing the next (crucial) away match in Köln...

Mainz currently leading 3-0 after just 28 minutes in the season-decider.
They are in third place now, all Mainz can do is hope that Hoffenheim don't get a goal.

With a 2-0 lead for Hoffenheim now it no longer is looking good for Mainz. Almost impossible for them to make it now.

1899 Hoffenheim - SpVgg Greuther Fürth 5:0 (1:0)
1. FC Kaiserslautern - 1. FC Köln 3:0 (0:0)
1. FSV Mainz 05 - FC St. Pauli 5:1 (3:0) :(

I'm sorry for Mainz, but they threw it away against Aachen & Köln.
I take my hat off to the fans who gave Kloppo a very emotional & worthy farewell today!

It would have been so great to have Mainz back in the Bundesliga. It's also very sad to see Kloppo take his leave. :(
It remains true though what he said at the end of last season: "Heute ist nicht alle Tage. Wir kommen wieder, keine Frage!"
Hold your heads up!

We're having a big farewell party on Friday for Kloppo at the Domplatz. Mainzers'll make any excuse to party! Given that the team really didn't play "Spassfussball" this year, I'm actually not as devestated as in years past---with our many near misses on promotion. 18 years is a long time for anyone in any club, so we wish our Juergen the best and I am getting excited to see who our new coach will be. I like the coaches at Onsnabrueck and 'Pauli! But that's just my opinion, we'll have to see who Heidel likes!

He's already found a new coach it seems!
A press conference is announced for this afternoon.
If I had to choose, I would decide for Volker Finke.
Kicker.de is reporting a rumour which has it that Jörn Andersen will be presented as the new coach. Hmm...

Muaha! Jörn Andersen! :D
The Frankfurt-submarine is on its way again. The enemy to the east (OFC) has allready been struck and sunk, now he is moving towards the west... Good luck Jörn! I hope you can do as good a job there! ;)

Du alter Schlingel! :D;)
But don't forget that Jörn gathered 20 points in Offenbach since his arrival. They got relegated mainly due to their bad run in the time before winter break in my eyes...

Of course you would see it that way. The way I saw it, Offenbach got relegated because they got their asses kicked in Osnabrück on the final day.
Andersen did do a nice job. No doubt about that. If he had not, he would not have gotten the job in Mainz.
But he still didn't get the job done.
But of course, leave it to you to bend facts in order to blame someone other than a Gladbach hero.
And you really didn't need to make any excuses for Andersen. I feel it wasn't Andersen's fault that the team shit their pants on the final day.
But to say Offenbach got relegated was due to something that happened six months before when all they had to do is draw on the final day to save their asses is just ridiculous in my opinion.
And I think Andersen will do a good job in Mainz.

Now, as a BVB fan, I wanted to ask any Mainz fans here their opinion of Neven Subotic, the young central defender BVB just purchased from Mainz today.
I know his basics, but I would like to know what some of you think of his playing style.
We realize he still needs to develop more, but Klopp really wanted him and thinks he can mold Subotic into a very good defender.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

Congrats on getting a young, solid, versatile and very likeable player. Viel Glück in Mainz, Robert!

I'm no Mainz fan ... but I can tell you that he's one of the greatest CB talents in Germany and his departure surely won't be easy to compensate for the Rheinhessen.
I could see it come that Kloppo would take him to Dortmund (the Mainz fans won't be amused:-)...
