Carling Cup
Burnley v Arsenal
Tuesday, 02 December 2008

Instead of Cap'n Cesc on tuesday we'll probably see Captain Fabianski again as we get a break from the high-stress up-and-down world of trying to secure premier league points. Devotees will probably remember we traveled to Turf Moor last January for an FA Cup match, which we won 2-0.

Let's hope we can see some more impressive results from Bendtner and Vela up front, and maybe we'll see a bit more from new boy Bischoff.

I suppose there could be an outside chance that we could see Eduardo named in the squad.

With Djourou called up to the starting XI, i wonder who we're gonna see in back for this one.

Silvestre and Kolo for the sake of match fitness? Or is Kolo hurt?

It's a good question. It doesn't seem like we have any real up-and-coming center halves in our reserves. Seems like the last center back we had who generated some buzz in our reserves was Matthew Connolly, and he's long gone.

I guess there's Paul Rodgers -- he played in the preseason friendly against Barnet -- but in these later stages of the Carling Cup I'd be genuinely surprised to see Wenger trying to blood a player for the first time.

I wouldn't mind seeing Toure get a run out to get him back on track.

perhaps OT, but does the fact that the match is at such a small ground have any bearing on it not being televised?

(and i am aware the FA cup match from last year was televised, but thats THE cup, ya know?)

I dont think AW will play JD only 2 days after having played a full 90 against chelsea.

perhaps harvard Nordveit (sp)? with silvsetre or kolo and silvestre.

OT- Im glad AW decided to play Johann Djorou today. It shows that he DOES have plans for the young man, and our cries of playing him arent going unnoticed.

Paul Rodgers will be sold soon... he has no future at Arsenal... he apparently went on trial to Nottingham Forrest a month ago, but did not get picked up...

Havard Nortveit is supposed to be the future at CB... but since he got recalled from Salamanca, he cannot play for Arsenal until January (even though he may be loaned again)

maybe Gavin Hoyte at CB?

maybe Gavin Hoyte at CB?

I believe he's played there before. Actually didn't the Hoyte brothers play as tandem CBs this preseason? Brutal ITRC.

You might be right about Djourou but Nordveit is still at Salmac-howeverthefcukyousay- and Kolo is still hurt.

GH plays CB for the reserves.

If we see Bischoff it will be as a SS or AM. He plays his best in the center of the pitch just behind the front 1 or 2.

I would like to see

-----------Simpson---Vela-----
Wishere----Ramsey---Randall---Merida
Gibbs----Hoyte-----Silvestre---???
------------Fabianski-------

I'd like to see Frimpong and Coquelin get some time as well.

Nordviet's Car is still at the Salamanca training ground but he was recalled a few weeks ago. (there is an amusing story about this over on Young guns.)

I read that story too. But is he really back. I've haven't heard anything from the official site or any other site for that matter.

ll.

He will probably come off the bench but Bischoff is capable of playing on the wing. He played there in the reserve fixture against Fulham and did quite well by all accounts (including a amazing volley to open the scoring). He is probably at his best in the AM role but then so are most of our wingers.

He may or may not have played a closed door friendly a few days ago. I'd be surprised to see him on the bench Tuesday, but there's a chance.
