out of the 4 Mexican teams only Santos fans seemed to fill their teams Stadium to its fullest to greatly support their team. Santos only lost once the whole year of 2008 at home. If they get the Dynamo or Montreal I can easily see them winning by 3 at home.

You are underestimating Houston because the MLS as a whole hasn't won outside the United States. Santos Laguna is a good team but they will be in for a fight with whoever they play, including Houston. Keep in mind, the Dynamo almost won in Ciudad de Mexico against Pumas. If your expecting a cakewalk against Houston, your sadly mistaken.

Santos laid down three gols every home game in there group while Dynamo made it by one gol against Firpo. I doubt they will b any threat.

You guys will be shocked by what the Dynamo will do against Santos if they get them. Keep in mind, the Mexican teams don't like to play fast and ala they fake injury to catch their breath. Dynamo defense is too good and Santos may win but don't expect it to be easy. This is the year the MLS shuts everyone of the haters up and slams the competition and by yesterdays game against Firpo, it is VERY easy to win with international officials.

"This is the year the MLS shuts everyone up".... uhm, have you not been watching the Champions League? MLS is the laughing stock of the continent at the moment... only two wins from FOUR teams and they were both Houston at home by a single goal against teams from El Salvador and Panama.

Meh, it really isn't fair to compare the performances of two teams in different groups. But yeah, Houston needs to work on that fitness early on otherwise we'll find ourselves in a lot of trouble. However, I don't see Santos getting a 3-0 at home. Not even the mighty Pachuca could do it a couple of years ago...had to go into extra time and Chaco had score a goal guided by the arrow of Apollo to seal the deal. Granted it was because of the 2-0 win by the Dynamo at home, but they kept fighting untill the last minute.

Houston's big gripe...finishing. We haven't really had a pure striker, and thus usually don't win by many goals even if Dynamo are dominant in possession and SOG. Now with Jaqua gone, that makes matters worse. Also, the defense isn't what it was 2 yrs ago, and next year it maybe even worse if some big moves aren't made in the offseason. Chabala has stepped up and shown he's a solid defender, but Barrett has been off the past few months, Waibel isn't getting any younger, Bobby Boswell is probably gone to Europe, and Eddie is still a hot head which makes him a liability.

The knockout rounds would prove to be harsh on my Dynamo, but with all that said, as far as getting rolled over...I just don't see that happening.

All those little kiddie LOL's aside, how exactly does that logic work? Because they beat a struggling Guanaco team with guys missing due to injury and visa rejection by only one goal, that means they'll lose in the knockouts? That's fallacious, friend. Not to make excuses but one must take into account all factors. 4 key guys were out for Houston as well, although Chabala did a better job than Captain Wade. But with Davis and Holden out for yellow card accumilation the team had to rely on service from Corey Ashe. He hustles but his crosses are...inconsistent at best. Without that service from either Stuie or Brad, Ching is pretty much rendered useless. Like a U.S. Borgetti he needs that service coming in. That leaves Mullan and Kamara to try and drive it up the team's throat...not going to work if Ching and Ashe can't lure some defenders away, and when a team knows you can't do much on the wings they're going to shut you down coming up the middle. Should they have won by more goals? Mybe...should've, could've, would've. That's futbol compa. Plenty good teams barely beat minnows.

I'm not going to be irrational and say "Dynamo is teh best! Yay!" But to completely dismiss them is asinine.

There's no way the Dynamo will win the tournament, because they'll be completely out of season. They may do some damage, depending on who they draw, but there's no chance they'll win it. And I'm an MLS fan...........

Same for Montreal. Forget it. Although it's going to be 40 degrees below zero (exaggeration) in Montreal when these central and south american teams have to travel up there. They'll have a great home-field advantage there, but I don't see them doing anything on the road.

.

the matches could be played in February, August, September, or November and the Dynamo would not win the tournament. the excuses would just be different depending on the month
