So, doctors, what's the prognosis?

I say Charlton wins again in their yellow in a close and hard fought match.

Shut down one Saint and you've got yourself a victory.

Thoughts?

P.S. Hoping to see a replay via FSW sometime during the week.

Go Addicks!!!

Saints have not been scoring goals today. Maybe Di Canio scores one as a sub.

I say 2-0. Parker and Cole score for the Addicks. That is if they can play a whole lot better than last week. That was ugly.

Can someone put an [r] in the thread title

What's the [r] for anyway? I'm a newbie, so please forgive.

Also, what is the health of the club at this point? I can't seem to find an "injury report" on the squad anywhere. And why would DiCanio come on as a sub rather than start? He's a spark plug and we seem to do better when we score first.

How's this?

I would love to see Parker score. But I think he is pressing to much to do so -- ever since Curbs has told him to look to score. He needs to just let it happen. To use the cliche -- let the game come to him -- and he will get his goals.

FT Southampton [3 - 2] Charlton Athletic

5' [1 - 0] Michael Svensson

45' [2 - 0] Brett Ormerod

46' [2 - 1] Scott Parker

65' [2 - 2] Scott Parker

86' [3 - 2] Brett Ormerod

Well Parker had two goals but that makes two losses in a row.

The [r] in the title of a thread means there is a result in it.

That is six points that will come back to haunt the Addicks if they don't secure a UEFA Cup spot.

I am heartbroken. After Boro, the schedule doesn't get easier. We needed some sort of result today.

It would be nice to get some luck on the health side. Fish goes out with a groin after warmup. That might have thrown the back line off form. Two clearnaces from 3 points!

I hope I get to see the replay. I can suffer through. It sounds like Parker and the boys up front were doing their best. But a couple of close calls became Saints goals.

Hang in Addicks and get back to the hard work.

What a heartbreaking way to lose. It hurt even more after paying $15.95 for the PPV.

The club played so poorly during the first half with the only exception being Parker and Kish. Both of them were up and down the pitch on offense and defense.

Curbs must have thrown some tea cups at the half. They came out on fire right from the start.

My only complaint was again with Curbs' poor choice of substitutions. He took out Di Canio when Paolo was constantly attacking the Southampton goal. I will admit his passes to his teammates were hit too hard. The balls kept bouncing off of Paolo's targets. His passing touch just wasn't there. However, he was making things happen. The attack went to hell once Carlton Cole came on. Cole is not a playmaker and is nothing more than a target man.

As great of manager Curbs is supposed to be he just doesn't seem to make the right substitutions. I understand the Addicks continue to suffer from injuries and he doesn't always have much to select from.

Overall, we are in trouble, I feel that in order to maintain a European position that you must get the three points from every team in the bottom of the table and draw with those in the upper half. So only getting one point from the last three matches who were all bottom half of the table clubs sends up a warning sign. I don't know why this is beginning to look like the end of last season all over again. I'm praying its not.

I also hope this is not the beginning of a mid-season slump. They had played so well against the top teams aside from the Man U loss. I was so optimistic that this stretch would yeald bunches of points.

I am still optimistic about a UEFA spot, but the Addicks can't play down to their competition when playing those in the lower half of the table. I sort of understand the Leeds loss (I think there is Voodo involved with that curse) but this one really hurts.
