Vida but Rio, Evra and VDS were all massive. Amazing how much they were penalized by the refs for great play.

van der Sar had two fantastic saves and Carrick was our best non-defenseive player but there were moments when Rio left vidic alone to deal with Villa and unlike in the past he dealt with it quite well and even prevented a clear goal chance. He was also our most dangerous player at set pieces, which makes him our most dangerous attacking player today. Vidic for me.

Vidic was very lucky the officials were so poor today...
Not sure how that constitutes a MotM performance?
I did find his cynicism in trying to deal with Ag's pace most curious, though.

When a match goes the way it did today, we risk making mistakes that can easily punished. When we can't click offensively, that type of cynicism can be the lifeline.

Carrick
he held the midfield well

Carrick for me. He handled a tough and physical midfield very well and was often left on his own. He was maybe the only player in midfield who was calm on the ball and he did a lot of good work both ways. I think its now 3 very good performances on the trot for Carrick.

Normally I'd have rounded Vida, but he saw how the game was being called and took advantage of it imo. The officials allowed all kinds of physical play so long as it wasn't overt or too far from the ball.
Hard to call, Rio, Carrick, Evra and VDS were excellent whilst Vida as part of the back 5 was also quite good. Maybe Carrick cuz he had the least help?

That's why i picked carrick. I thought he would struggle vs 3 very good cms because he was basically by himself, but he played very well and he used all his wits to make up for the numerical disadvantage. He is amazing because everytime he gets the ball he has 4-5 passes he can make after only a few touches. His positioning in ball retention and defense is amazing and he's a tidy tackler.

There were about 5 times he got to a ball that was near impossible to control and made perfect passes coming out of them enabling us to keep possession and in some situations get straight into attack.
His overhead flick to set up Rooney was out of this world. Had Ronaldinho, Totti, Riquelme or God forbid Messi done that and it had led to a goal, there would be a huge fanboy wankfest.

He'll always be underrated because of his style of play and his demeanor. When we signed him i didn't think he was top 4 material, but he is clearly a class act and one of the most important players in the squad.
For me, he is one of the few "guaranteed" starters for us in big games, along with Rio, Vidic and Evra. It's not a coincidence that we play poorly when he is off his game or if he is not fit.

I think the unaccounted votes don't go into consideration for the final tally.

Vidic most definitely. He made two goal saving tackles. One which would have been a penalty and the other was in the 6 yard box. Amazing display.

Have you checked Red Cafe's MOTM thread for this match? Park is in top three for about 60% of posters.
I thought he was decent enough. Certainly had more to do with the offense than others. It was a bleak match regardless.
Just curious why there's so much ill will towards Park here while Red Cafe posters seems to appreciate him more (I dont count United's main page messageboard because anyone can join there and there are admittedly a lot of Koreans on that site).

Watch that chance and you will understand.
