MLS WPL Table for games through August 18, 2002.

This week's table will be a stripped down version, without all of the usual commentary. There are two reasons for this: my work schedule, and the fact that I have not adjusted to the fact that we have been unceremoniously (and without warning) exiled to BigSoccer Siberia.

The Weekly Cup - Congratulations to goatnutsgoal, the winner of this week's Cup. The weekly cup has only one person from last week's top 10. I don't know whether that is a testament to the parity of the WPL or further evidence that this year is impossible to predict.

FlashMan, as far as I can tell, those with the ability to make such decisions decided that the WPL was "noise" rather than "signal".

Apparently the WPL is of no use to anyone except for its participants. I argued that any thread in any forum is only of use to those who find it useful, and in fact the same could be said of any website, including BigSoccer. So far my argument has accomplished nothing.

It is ironic that here, on BigSoccer, where every day a new thread is started about how soccer doesn't get enough air time, or enough respect, or enough whatever, that the same lack of respect could be shown to a soccer-based competition.

But...we will persevere. Especially now that I have taken the lead.

My favorite part is that the moderators consider the attendance thread to be "serious" discussion and analysis when it's the same damn thing every week. Having the prediction thread is useless.

I think as a boycott you should create every new thread in the General forum anyway and make them move it. It will at least make it a pain in the ass for them. Plus it will clutter up the general forum with the "move" pointer, and thus adding to more noise. Fight fire with fire.
