Santos 1, Defensor Sporting 0.

Nice. Another Brazilian victory in the 2007 Libertadores this week. Ze Roberto, one of the few who did well for Brazil in Germany last year, scored the goal.

Santos is now the group leader with 6 points.

I wonder whether Santos is just as strong a Brazilian contender as SPFC and Internacional are.

They are lacking forwards. They are contender to get to the quarters or semis maybe, but I doubt they arrive to the finals..

E a verdade que Cleber estara fichado ao Atletico para o proximo ano??

Hei visto a alguns partidos de Santos e acho que vao a ganhar Libertadores.

You mean Kleber or Cleber (Santana)? You mean Atletico Madrid, Atletico Paranaense, Atletico Mineiro.....?

Actually Santos have a good team.

Safe goalkeeper. 2 good DR (Pedro and Denis). Great and a young talented LF (Kleber and Carlinhos). Average DC (Antonio Carlos Zago, Adailton, Leonardo, Domingos, Avalos). 1 great and an average DM (Maldonado and Rodrigo Souto). 1 Amazing, 1 Great and 2 Good AM (Zé Roberto, Cleber Santana, Pedrinho and Tabata). 3 average FW (Marcos Aurélio, Tiui and Jonas).

After this review you can notice that Santos need better players in DC and FW.

Hope we win even though.

Luxemburgo just needs to stop the Antonio Carlos love fest. Adailton is a solid CB, but AC is a joke. Didn't you get Leonardo off a loan deal?

Yeah Leonardo came back. I hope if Santos go to next phase they 'd get more players (FW and DC)

I don't know about you, but Leonardo is much better than Antonio Carlos. Well, atleast he played well when he was at Santos before.

As for a striker, I would have thought they would have addressed that issue before the Libertadores. They tried getting Souza, but they ended up with Marco Aurelio. I am not sure if they can get anyone on loan and there really isn't anyone on the market right now. They could always get Luizão again, atleast he has experience and he is the all time leading goal scorer in the Libertadores:D

3 average FW (Marcos Aurélio, Tiui and Jonas)

I thought Aurelio was fairly good, consistent scorer at least.
I agree that the other two are quite average
and that they really need a centre forward.

Aurelio only had a good month at Atletico Paranaense, but the rest were pretty much average.

Great win by Santos - when it seemed that the Argentines had pulled another last-minute draw, Ze Roberto shut up all the fans of Ginasio e Esgrima da Prata.

Santos Futebol Clube, doing a good job representing futebol Brasileiro in the 2007 Libertadores, with nothing but wins and only one goal allowed. If they keep this up they will secure home field advantage throughout the elimination rounds.

(Let's just see, though, if Vanderlei Luxemburgo's star shines in bracket elimination - he's done well in the leagues, but Libertadores?...)

By the way, I saw highlights on Telefutura. The idiots put up the emblem of SANTOS LAGUNA of Mexico rather than the Santos FC emblem.

Ze Roberto's goal was a rocket. The inbound pass-heel pass combo was vintage jogo bonito... Ginasio e Esgrima da Prata's defenders were clueless (though they messed up badly in the opening goal). They're lucky Santos failed with that penalty kick.

(Incidentally, it's the second night that a Brazilian side in the LIbertadores misses a PK; Ceni missed last night vs. Necaxa.)

Aurelio only had a good month at Atletico Paranaense, but the rest were pretty much average.

I would say that He was a bit irregular but still a good first season in top league.
Especially since he joined the team after WC break.
About 14 goals in 27 games, not bad at all.
And now he is contributing well in Santos.
Another example of Corinthian rejects that succeed.
And well Mengao compared to Roni…;-)

Tiui is very mobile but too irregular and bad finishing.
And both are young and will develop
but as said they need a experienced centre forward.

Haha, I never brought up Roni and I would never say Roni is any better

Defensor Sporting 0, Santos 2. Santos FC has the best record in this year's Libertadores and has guaranteed first place from its group.

At this pace, Santos will secure home field advantage for as long as it remains in the competition.

I wonder whether this might be Santos' year.
