I fell in love with a bike this weekend. I don't think I'm going to get it, as it was $1,149... but there was something beautiful about it.

Hand-made wheels. Fixed gear... Believe it was a hand-made frame... Brooks saddle.

Minimalistic beauty.

Anyway, that said... I have no experience with fixed gear bikes. I think they sound scary. This one does have a front brake... but some don't!

Anyone ride a fixed gear bike? No coasting sounds like lots of exercise though!

Iceblink, IIRC, Twenty26six does.

It's fun.
You never stop pedaling.
You slow it down by resisting with your quadriceps muscles.
Tight turns can be tricky at first.
I've never really ridden it in traffic or up/down big hills.
