Scotland coach Berti Vogts knows nothing less than a victory over the Faroe Islands will appease the nation after a string of friendly defeats.

Vogts and the Scotland squad travel to the Faroes on Thursday ahead of their opening European Championships qualifier.

The German is confident that his side can improve on the five consecutive defeats that have seen him enter the history books as the first Scotland manager to oversee such a miserable run...

Rudi Voeller: "Berti and the Scotland team don`t even come into our equations.
We can only see ourselves coming top of our group."

Let's get stuck in!!!

Im hoping we can beat the faroes but you would have to think confidence would be rock bottom coming off the denmark game, and with the faroes comfortably spanking leichenstein they could be quite up for it.
I wonder why Burchill and Miller dont get in myself, they are both decent finishers and fast as lightning, something I dont think can be said of either Dobie or Kyle who arent even getting games for their clubs.

ooohh yeah... losing 2-1 to world champs brazil in the world cup quarter finals can almost be compared to getting outclassed by the faroes..

btw - I saw that you were backing croatia during the world cup to continue your tradition of supporting teams that get knocked out in round one.

lmao.

Leeds defender Dominic Matteo has withdrawn from the Scotland squad to face Iceland in next week's Euro 2004 qualifier, after being injured in a UEFA Cup tie last night.

Berti Vogts was contacted by the player's club this morning with the news, but does not intend to bring in any replacements at this stage.
