I swear, I keep waiting and waiting and waiting to see strong evidence that justifies
Bobby's belief in this kid, the money spent on him and the team not buying a better
defender to pair with Woodgate.
The guy isn't a complete mess and he's still young, but I'm really just plain stunned at how he continues to start for a team that is supposedly intending to regularly challenge for a top 3 placing in the league.
Against both Basle and Wolves he was hardly convincing.

Couldn't agree with you more Greenie. I've said on these boards before that "Bungle" deserves no more time out there than Stevie Caldwell. I think Dabizas would be doing a better job on the pitch than what Bramble's been putting out there. My problem with him playing this much is that Bobby is not trying anybody else...he's just accepting this mediocrity that Bramble seems to put out there more often than not.

He's also very dumb looking, which never helps.

I don't know how you have come to this conclusion. The general concensise in Newcastle is that this season Titus has been a rock for us in defence and several times he has rightly won M.O.M. I think that we have a future england defender at Newcastle.

Perhaps it won't matter....
....if Bocanegra shows up in the black and white come January.

At the risk of boring everyone by repetition, my view is that Titus' problem is consistency.
He can do everything required of a defender and do it brilliantly. For example, he was superb in the home game against Juventus in last season's Champions League.
Unfortunately, he is prone to frequent (at least a couple each game) of dreadful errors, which seem to be down to lapses of concentration. Sometimes the opposition takes advantage, other times they don't.
If Sir Bobby can get him to perform consistently (and this can't be easy considering the number of times Titus' central defensive partner has changed) then we will have an excellent defender.

I think you're spot on with Bramble's assessment, Wideboy. Consistency has been his biggest problem. And that's why I would have liked Bobby to have given S. Caldwell or even dare I say Nik the Greek a shot to see if they could perform on a consistent basis.

After today's F-up, it's time for him to go!
Thx,

Per most of the comments above and Bramble's play today, I still question why he's given the start on a routine basis, given that Newcastle is supposedly a side trying to hike up its bootstraps to compete with the likes of ManU and Arsenal (and now Chel$ki).
As I said, he's still young and he definitely shows loads of potential. But his consistency is too great an issue. We're not talking game-to-game inconsistency, we're talking minute-to-minute. One second he's reading the play exceptionally well, winning a tough 50-50 ball and distributing perfectly; the next minute he's taking out a fellow defender as the opposition runs by them both to score.
As a lifelong Toon fan I'm still ecstatic at where the club is today, yet I'm confused as to the desires of where the club is trying to go. For all the young potential in this squad they've somehow seem to have taken a step backwards, with only Big Al truly stepping up game in and game out.
Come end of the season, anything short of 4th place will be a massive disappointment given the progress of and financial investment by the club in recent years. The only way to move forward from here is to play champions' league ball.

One things is for sure...we need a new defender. Since Uncle Bobby is unwilling to give the other defenders we have in the team(O'Brien excluded) we need to buy a solid defender during January. Bramble is not cutting it...I'm tired of seeing his schoolyard ********ups.

Perhaps, but I have my doubts even if Woodgate is over his bouts with injury.
