I heard through the media grapevine this weekend that FSR anchor Mitch Peacock gave his notice to the show last week. Mitch is off to work for the CBC in Winnipeg as a supper sports anchor on their local newscast in Winnipeg. His last day on FSR will be the 30th of November.
This is not overly surprising considering Mitch has been working sidelines for CBC`s TFC broadcasts for a couple years now. I`m told Mitch will continue to do those and other events for the CBC in his new position.
As a fan of FSR and an admirer of Mitch, I`d like to wish him well in his new position. He`s been great on the show and I think it is safe to say it won`t be the same without him. Another big loss for FSR on the personality side.
Best of luck!

Aww that's a disappointment. I watch FSR every night and his presence will definitely be missed.

Good for him, bad for those of us who like the show.

I wonder if this means we'll see more of Terri Leigh behind the desk.

Why can't FSC manage to get rid of Christian Miles?

I'm not that broken up over this one. Although Mitch is probably the most professional of the bunch during broadcasts, he seems to be lacking in the personality & charisma department. Nevertheless, this is a good step up for him and I wish him luck. They better teach that new "update" girl how to pronounce club & player names now!

I actually like Mitch's low key style. On the rare occasions that he's hosted the Monday or Friday editions, Bobby McMahon's analysis was more enjoyable as they did not have to compete with Jeremy and Derek for airtime:)

From Jeremy's latest blog:
Some of you may have heard through the grapevine (and Big Soccer) that FSR is losing Mitch Peacock at the end of this month. Mitch has decided to take a position with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation station here in Winnipeg as their supper sports anchor. The good news for Canadian footie fans is that Mitch will continue to do sideline reporting for the CBC during Toronto FC matches next season. I know deciding to go wasn’t an easy decision for Mitch but we here at FSR wish him all the best and are genuinely happy for him and his family. Having known Mitch since we were in college together, I can say he is a top-notch journalist and a top-notch individual. There are very few people more knowledgeable about what’s going on in the game than Mitch. It’s my belief that the best compliment a person can receive is that they’ve made the people around them better – and Mitch has certainly done that here at FSR. He will be missed.
I also hope it means we'll get to see more Terri Leigh behind the desk! She's done pretty well with the stuff they've had her do so far. Pronunciations are pretty decent - and no doubt she has the look to keep me watching! ;)

She anchored last night. She's still getting used to commentating live over highlights, there's no doubt about that, but it was a good first effort. With eyes like that she could lay "ly-kes-ter city" and I wouldn't care. :p

AGREED!
For a first time effort actually on the desk, she was quite decent!
No worse than any of the others when they started back when the show was started.
Great presence, solid read and a great voice!
This girl could go places if she keeps getting better!
I know I'll be happy to watch her pretty much do anything.
WOW

She had a solid debut. A little eye candy never hurts a sports show!

I'm sure you meant "say." What an obvious Freudian slip. :D

That sums it up for me as well. I love Jeremy and Carlos' banter, almost reminds me of Sportscenter back when it was enjoyable. But I also enjoyed Mitch and the professionalism he brought to the show. Best of luck to him in the future.
