I've been in this forum for a while........but no one here talks bout Auxerre!
All the clubs u talk bout r L'OM and PSG.
Auxerre has one of the best young squads in the Le Championnat!!
Kapo, Benjani, Cisse, Mexes, Boumsong, Akale, Taino just to name a few!

If Auxerre get a good draw(unlike last year) I think they can go deep in the UEFA Cup maybe make the semi- finals.

We had some threads on Cisse and Mexes, but you are right its quiet on Auxerre.
We'll count on you to get the word out on Guy Roux's fab club.

By the way, great article in 442 about Guy Roux.

I just read that they are only averaging 8,000 people a game so apparently things are quite over there too. Seriously 8,000 average in a stadium that seats over 21,000 with a really good team is really really bad. I don't think a small population is good excuse because look at Lens.

I thought attendance was higher, but I've never looked it up myself.

Auxerre is always a great young team, they are very good formers, but they always have to sell their players, and this will be the case next year, Cissé, Boumsong, Mexes ...etc will leave, and few years after that, they will have good young players, and they will leave too...
This is what is A.J.Auxerre.

So Boumsong is going to Rangers. How can that be I thought they were having all sorts of financial problems. If Rangers could land him why couldn't Lyon, Marseille, PSG or Monaco were they even in the running ???

I hate the whole boumsong saga
i dont understand liverpool had him booked and had the cash to get him
And yes it is sad that we r averaging 8,000 but we r doin fantastic in the league.

If it makes you feel better, the current issue of FourFourTwo (Dec 2003, with Veron and Crespo on the cover) has an article about Guy Roux and Auxerre in it (p.93). Not a bad shot of him dancing with a woman in a see through top (she's singing. Hey, nice lungs!) on page 92 either, but I digress. It talks about some of the famous players to go through the club. Considering it's a small club to have the likes of Cantona, Blanc, Cisse, Boumsong, etc, they are doing well for themselves.
Anyway, you should pick it up.
Also has an article about Drogba and one on former PSG man Jay Jay Okocha.

Oops. I read your post at the time, but obviously not last night. I just picked it up (tardy) at B&N last night, hence the post.

I love how Guy Roux is the advertising Icon of France. I'd love to meet that guy... a legend in my mind.

Guy Roux is very popular in France but the club he manages is not very popular at all. That is kinda strange to me.

Small town bias.
Or maybe they just love him for his players.

small population can be an excuse as even if Lens is small the population around the city is quite important (lille's metropole)

that's true, auxerre is in the deep country (bourgogne). you wouldn't want to live there :)

When Fadiga left they got a good replacement in Kalou so I think when these new guys leave he will will bring in some good players.
