We have had endless discussions about right-sided midfielders. In a nutshell, we have many good ones( Ralston,Klein) but no excellent ones. I have heard many posters suggest Mullan but I had never seen him play untill the end of the year. Even though I am a Rev fan and feel that Ralston is darn good, I am beginning to believe Mullan is, in fact, the stud in the bunch.Ralston is skillful, but not so athletic.Klen is athletic, but not so skilled.Mullan looks like a perfect blend of athleticism and skill. He is known for his hard work, but when he is attacking, you can definitely see that he is a converted striker- he looks real comfortable and dangerous in the attack.I notice that Socceramerica rates him now as the top right midfielder in MLS. I have to say, I believe we MAY have found our man on the right side.

Ralston is much as traditional winger like E. Lewis. A lot of assists if the strikers can finish the pin-point crosses they supply. But Mullan did have the ability to cut inside and finish enough his chances. He also can run whole 90 minutes. He only need to improve his crosses. I told him that after one game he had three chances but only finished one. He improved a lot during the season.

You can't question Mullan's heart, drive, desire, effort... He's also quick enough - for the full 90. However he has two areas to improve on - 1) finishing, and 2) defense. He definitely improved over the course of this season, and I have to admit that the last time I saw him play was towards the end of September (so take my comments with an extra grain of salt), but if he can make even a few small improvements in those two areas, I think he could be an interesting option for the national team. He certainly creates chances!

You issued this same post a couple of days ago, so I guess you don't follow up on the things you say. Since you haven't been watching since September you really don't have much worth typing. Mullan FINISHED with 7 goals this year including his first playoff goal. He's considered one of the hardest working midfielders with regard to defending, covering the entire field.
Before you type something dumb, forget the grain of salt and research what you're saying. And before you type something DUMBER, check out what people have said about the first dumb think you typed.
Did you even WATCH the MLS Cup?

If anything, I would like to see him improve on his longer crosses. He does bring the ball into the box and create a lot of disruption in defenses. If he improves his crossing to (say) Eddie Lewis's level, then Mullin will be an easy choice for the Nat starting XI

Well no sh!t. ;)
I don't get to see a lot of MLS action, but from what little I saw he looked good. However, the guy who was looking really good on the right was Benny Olsen before he got hurt (what a surprise). Its no coincidence that our season went in the crapper when he went down.
I think we have a few players who can play well on the right, but not to the level of the two who are fighting to play on the left (at least not yet). But I'm not too worried, just don't forget these three words: Jonothon Carlos Elliott.

Go Mooner - Feel free to disagree without making it personal.
I think JCE is primarily a left-sided player.

Watching him I get the whole Cobi Jones feeling sometimes. It looks like he's doing A LOT ALL THE TIME when in reality it's often inefficient and ineffective. He doesn't quite grasp when to go and when to wait yet. He gets the ball and goes 100mph up the field. I think though he has the footskills and is young enough to improve in those areas to become a much better player and will succeed (eventually) in the international game.
It's too bad the U17 program wasn't around when he was that age. He's the type of guy who would have done very well through that.

I'm not sure if this is a scoop or anything but I have fairly reliable information that Mullan will be training with the NT whenever that next happens.
