So with Vista Hermosa unable to get points at Aguila today, it seems as though Firpo is still in with a chance at qualifying for the finals.
With two games left, we've got what on paper looks like the the easiest games (Independiente and Nejepa), and if we can get wins at those two games and either Chalate or Vista lose any of there remaining two, then we are in. I doubt we'll do anything in the finals, but i'd like to see us atleast make it to the final 4.
For those that don't know, the other teams that are already qualified are:
Aguila
Metapan (not mathematically in, but almost a certainty)
FAS (not mathematically in, but almost a certainty)

I think Aguila is going to be playing la liga next year ;)

Well it would be quite a finish to the season if you managed to sneak in, you looked well out of it not long ago....just to confirm what you said there here is the top six:-
Águila 33pts (qualified)
Metapán 28pts
FAS 27pts
Chalatenango 22pts
--------------------------------
Vista Hermosa 21pts
LÁ Firpo 19pts
Vista Hermosa and Chalate both seem to be stuttering a bit.. Firpo beating VH helped an awful lot, but only getting a point v Balboa did not... anyway here are the relevant games left:-
Jornada 17
LÁ Firpo v Juventud Independiente
Chalate v Nejapa
Vista Hermosa v CD FAS
you have to think the top two games are home wins, and FAS are unbeaten in the segundo vuelta, maybe a draw?
Jornada 18
Águila v Chalate
Atlético Balboa v Vista Hermosa
Nejapa v LÁ Firpo
harder to call these, but I think Águila will win, VH and Firpo will get away wins.
If my results come off:-
Firpo - 25pts
Chalatenango - 25pts
Vista Hermosa - 25pts
......hmmmmmmmm.......
I think the title is between FAS and Metapan ... Águila qualified so early they seem to have been coasting since (a little), maybe this will be a problem for them?

Yeah i agree. Aguila haven't been nearly as dominant in the second half of the season as they were in the first. Out of the three though, i'd prefer Metapan to win it, as they've been very consistent throughout the years (arguably the most consistent, along with FAS) and have only got one championship to there name. It's about time they get there second. Oh, and ofcourse i'd rather they get it over FAS or Aguila as another championship to either of them would move them further away from Firpo who is trying to keep up with both of them on total championships won :D

all good points, mate ... I never really "got" a team whilst here, I used to go to San Salvador FC, I liked how they had about 100 fans in a 39,000 seater stadium, and last season I went to quite a few Santa Tecla games... they are my local team, but I have gradually grown fond of Metapán, not sure why, but if I can't find a Once Municipal shirt to buy (to wear to NCFC games once back in UK, geddit?) then I think I will get a Metapán shirt... and then maybe, just maybe, someone from Metapán will approach me and ask if I know Metapán and I will be forced to admit "I drove through it once" ...... I would love to get a to a game there, but doubt I will... is there a more "central" football (or indeed, any sporting) ground in the world than their stadium?

Hey I am off to see Alianza v Aguila tomorrow, means nothing really, as one is in, and the other can't make it, but I am very pleased, as I have not seen nearly enough first division this year.
El Grafico made the point that FESFUT stuck with DLC during some early less-than-great results, and now it is paying off (he is now second on the list of all time games managed for ES)... I can't help think that clubs really sack too early and without a good plan ... Centrone was clearly not the problem at Alianza, and his dismissal I think caused disruption making the problem worse...
Am determined to make all the home legs of Santa Tecla's play-off this year ... their winning it would be a great send off for me.....

Well with Firpo's loss today goes our hopes of making the finals, and more importantly, the hope of winning three league titles back to back.
By the sounds of it, JI had the better chances throughout the game and deserved the win.
Hopefully this will show them that even when coming off a championship win, we still need to look to strengthen our team. Hopefully, we can get it together in the off season and pick up atleast a few new players. Maybe some of the players from Alianza who no doubt will be on the way out after seasons end. And hopefully some decent strikers.
Anyway, now it's between Chalate and Vista Hermosa for fourth spot. Although, with FAS' loss today, they are also a chance to miss the finals if they fail to get points in the finals matchday, and both Chalate and Vista record wins. If that were to happen, then it would most likely go to a playoff between FAS and Vista for fourth spot.
Personally, i'd rather Chalatenago go through to the finals, along with FAS. They (Chalate) have done pretty well this season, and it would be nice to see if Ayala can continue his goal scoring in the final series (his two goals today now moves him to the head of the goal scoring list at 11 from 15).
And as for an interesting bit of extra info, Metapan's loss at home today (2-3 lose to Balboa), finaly puts an end to there 30 games unbeaten at Jorge Suárez stadium.

Lisandro Pohl, presidente del Alianza, confirmó la salida de los cuatro extranjeros. Gustavo Mendes y Nicolás Muñoz ni siquiera se equiparon para jugar contra el Águila.......

Bad luck for those four. Fair enough maybe they haven't been playing the best, but IMO, Pohl should take the majority of the blame of what has happend at Alianza this season. He should resign, and if he doesn't then Alianza will most likely continue playing like this next season and again he'll look to blame the players.
As for those who have been released. I must say feel somewhat bad for Muñoz as he seems like a nice guy. He's also a decent player, who i hope can get signed up to another club in the first division. Same goes for Mendes. From what i've seen, he's another decent player who didn't deserve to be let go. I feel bad for him as he was released once already and then brought back, and now has been released again. Very unproffesional on Alianza's part. Hopefully this bad experiance with Alianza doesn't put him off playing in El Salvador and he get's signed by another club. As for Mosquera, well from what i've seen of him, he was a horrible keeper. He's one i'm not sorry to see go, and i'm happy that his release means that Salinas will once again see game time. He's is a decent young keeper that hasn't been the same since that Ecuador game, and he deserves a chance to prove himself. Fonseca is one i can't really comment on as haven't seen much of him.
And finally, there's Alvarez, who i've never been a fan of. He's VERY stuck up and cocky, and IMO, can't do enough on the field to back up all the hype he puts on himself. I'm glad he's been released, and hope that a stint in the second division can bring him back down to earth and get him playing some good football.

Alianza has signed three decnt players after letting go those four players
they signed Brazilian Duo Juliano Rangel de Andrade (Deportivo Savio)
compatriota Sandro Zamboni (2nd division of guatemala) and uruguayan Gastón Linares (Heredia) :D good signings in my opinion
Still disapponited they didn't keep Nicolas munoz though

Surprising to see Metapan lost another game at home. Good thing they scored a goal though, as it keeps them in with a chance for the next leg. They need atleast a 3-0 score line to go through, which will be tough, but not entirely impossible.
Also good to see Chalate continue on there good form against Aguila (who they have now beat three times this season, scoring 5 and conceding 0). This 3-0 score should be enough to get them through to their first final in the clubs history, but it's gonna be tough to get the win in San Miguel as Aguila has only lost there once the entire season (0-1 to Chalate a couple of weeks ago). But hopefully they can go two for two, and win back to back games there, or atleast get the tie that would still see them qualify.
