Since Redknapp took over;

Home game against Bolton, who are going to be relegated anyway. 2-0. W.

Away against an off-colour Arsenal, snatched draw from jaws of defeat. 4-4.D

Home against Liverpool. They battered us. We somehow won. 2-1. W.

Home against Zagreb. They stank of poo. Really stank. 4-0. W

Away against Citeh. They had 2 players sent off, and still we were on the back foot for much of the game. 2-1. W

Home V. Liverpool game. Liverpool's 2nd string were pants. Still caused problems. 4-2. W.

I appreciate whats happened since Harry has come along, but still feel there has been a real element of fortune in all of these games, (except Bolton). We're by no means out of the mire, and have relied on many mistakes from opponents to get anything from these games, whether its 'Pool's wastefulness in front of goal, or the team selection.

On the plus side, we never took advantage of other teams mistakes under Ramos, nor forced them into making them.

I just wonder how long we can take for granted other teams being dumb.

And Gomes is a walking disaster. After watching Robbo's performance for Blackburn against Chelsea (he was brilliant), it was hard not to feel a tinge of regret.

And I really do feel Gomes wasn't injured tonight and was faking. He was bloody awful and knew it! Anything to get off the pitch!

i'm agreed with almost all of that.

that said, the reason that i'm borderline euphoric right now is not that we look brilliant relative to the competition ... it's that we look brilliant relative to what we looked like under ramos.

that team was going down. i'm convinced of that. we were so, so, soooooo phooking poor. a truly dire, wretched show. now, it appears that we're at least capable of playing some nice stuff on occasion. when harry came on, i just wanted some hope by Christmas. now, i feel i can afford some expectations. ok, i know we're not out of the woods - we're only one point off bottom. but, hey, we can win football games. and have!!

i agree in general we've had the rub of the green, but as they say - i'd rather be lucky than good. it's too early to get excited, but a month ago you would have looked at the schedule and could have reasonably concluded we would adrift in last place facing a relegation battle, out of the carling cup and in danger of elimination from uefa

instead we've managed to take 7 points from matches where we would have struggled to do so even at the zenith of jol's tenure. we've gained some breathing room, some confidence and done so against top quality sides.

losses and a poor run of form are surely coming, but they'll be easier to absorb and overcome thanks to the past six games.

There is a part of me that would love to have seen Jol with the financial backing that Juande 'Worse Than Gross' Ramos received.

And good/great teams make their own luck. This Spurs team plays to the end of injury-time.

Where's my boy with 4 strikers at? Look guy, 'pool rode there luck for a while and the are top of the leauge or close to it. We needed this and we should accept this with open arms. I know things are not what they should be but are we winning .. YES!

I disagree on the fact that other teams played poorly because they're crapola.
Some of them (Arsenal, Man City) struggled because of how we did not let them play.

I believe we could have lost at the Emirates and tied at home with L'pool in the Premier game, but those are probably two of the Top 10 teams in the world today.

Other victories were overall well deserved.

What is important is that we're getting confident, and playing much better. This is crucial for the very young team we are.

Lol. Nay-say much? :p

But seriously, while I don't agree with everything in your post, jum, its true that we should not be completely over the moon--and that there is room for improvement. However, this team, with 'arry, seems to actually want to win which in my opinion is a giant leap from even a few weeks ago let alone last season. The lads are playing hard and believing in themselves. Funny how luck always bends your way under those conditions.

More importantly, I feel, is that we no longer have the "relegation luck." We get rebounds off the post, deflections by the keeper, etc whereas before those shots were rebounding out for a goal kick or being easily collected by the keeper.

I definitely agree that Liverpool outplayed us in the league--they wiped the floor with us. But, our strikers are scoring. When that happens all bets are off. It's not one hot Bent, it's also the yet-to-be-settled Pavyluvchenko and the loanee kid from the Cola-ship Campbell. Modric looks worlds better and Bentley has started to play quite well. They were both used out of position and without a game plan before. While we've definitely been lucky of late, let's not ignore the fact that we've also improved dramatically. We can't keep up this run of form and fortune forever, but if we continue to play to our individual abilities we'll end up mid-table or higher IMHO.

Repped for finding a way to use a Tiny Tim quote before Thanksgiving.

I do believe people 'make their own luck.' That said, Gomes sort of balances it all out with his twattiness.

And goru, I never said Spurs were winning against other teams cos they're crapola. I merely pointed out (to paraphrase) that Spurs have been very fortunate on many occasions and we shouldn't get over excited because we're still in the woods.

The only victories that were well deserved was the Bolton and 2nd string Liverpool game. Even in the 'Pool game Bale should've given away a PK, which would've brought the scores back to 4-3.

Isn't he due another injury, to co-incide with a Spurs winning streak? He's like our negative talisman. When he's getting felt up by the physio, spurs win!

He actually is. The record is piss poor when he plays. Only in cup games does he seem to bring positive results with him. In fact he is still looking for his first prem league victory.
