...for permanent. Apparently Chris Coleman loves the kid. Link here: http://www.sportinglife.com/football/premiership/arsenal/news/story_get.dor?STORY_NAME=soccer/03/11/22/SOCCER_Fulham_Nightlead.html Interesting to say the least. So can we afford to let him go? With The Grove being built, we need all the money we can get...

No no no a thousand times no!
This kid is going to be our right-back for a decade. Unless Fulham are willing to pay vastly more than he's worth now in recognition of his potential any offer they make should be flatly ignored. Besides, isn't Coleman their "interim" manager? If so, how relevant are his statements?

i think with the progress made at fulham this season, coleman is establishing himself as more than interim. i don't think we should let volz go. i agree that he is going to be priceless in the future

having just watched Fulham vs Portsmouth on tv, Volz definately seems like a decent prospect, hes been doing well at fulham and there is no way we should be selling him to anyone.
We should let him stay there for the rest of the season though and not recall him unless its really really vital that we need him back.

Thought he looked more like a future Oleg Luzheny than a future right sided Ashley Cole?

I would hesitatatingly let Fulham have him on loan for the rest of the season, but there is no way Arsenal should sell him.

Arsenal's policy on letting youth walk out of the door has been dodgy of late. I hope they don't give up on Volz, but you never know. Anyone remember that kid Jay Bothroyd? The young striker's doing fairly well at Perugia. Wish Arsenal hadn't let him go.

I don't think there has been a moment of regret since he was shown the door!

I know he had a bustup with the youth team coach, but he was a young player with obvious talent. As far as I'm concerned, Jermaine has a much worse attitude than Jay did (and my opinion on Jermaine has nothing to do with his alleged involvement in the rape case). Sometimes concessions have to be made especially with young players. As I recall, he was lamenting his lack of opportunities in the 1st team. Loan the kid out--don't sell him! I just feel that Arsenal loses interest in their youth talent--talent they have invested heavily in developing. I know it's hard to give young players a chance when the club is in the Cl and constantly at the top of the table. The children are our future, baby!

Jay Bothroyd did not complain about his lack of first team opportunities he threw his shirt at the Youth team coach after being substituted in a match. That is totally inexcusable and he deserved everything he got. He says he regrets it and would someday love to move back to Arsenal as he is/was an Arsenal fan since childhood.
I saw an interview with him the other day and some clips of his performances in Italy. If he manages to develop over a number of years i would to have him back as he looks to be exactly the type of forward we need to support Henry, big strong technically very gifted if not a little bit stupid.

First let me say, I'm not condoning Bothroyd's actions. Maybe it's because I'm a Yank and I've become somewhat desensitized to the antics of athletes, but throwing your shirt at a coach doesn't seem all that bad. Yes, his actions were childish and moronic, but at the time he was damn near a child. C'mon, footballers are running around raping girls and killing people with their vehicles. I just didn't think the brass at Arsenal were such hard asses.

I was watching Monday Night Football last night, and John Madden was talking about the Tampa Bay Bucs' Keyshawn Johnson issue. He said, "Whatever you allow when you're winning, you'll have to put up with when you're losing." Good philosophy.

Remember, Arsene knows. Just trust our manager to make decisions for the good of the club as a whole. As far as the Volz issue goes, I say let Fulham have him for the rest of the year, unless something drastic happens. Play him in the Community Shield next year (assuming we make it) and then take it from there.

That's all well and good, but is Arsene making these decisions, or are they financial decisions made at board level. I personally would rather see Voltz at right back, where he has played most of his career, rather than a midfield player standing in

Very good point, Lanesra, and I also agree 100%.
