What should the Cleveland MLS name/logo be?
For those favoring a "European sounding name" like AC Cleveland, Cleveland SC, Cleveland United, etc...what should the logo be?
If voting for Forest City, what should be the crest/logo?
And lastly what colors should be worn?

Bulldogs or Cobras (Orange kit with blue trim)

I'm bored and had no real work to do here, so I put my god-awful photoshop "skills" (or lack thereof) to work. Something like this, but done better, would be nice.

Some mod with time on their hands needs to merge all the cleveland expansion threads into this one.
Personally, I like Forest City FC, but whatever the name is it is going to have to have "Cleveland" in it. So Cleveland FC would be my second choice--Cleveland Cobras is okay as well.
As far as a kit I'd like Oranga and White hoops as the home kit, and all green (hunter or dark) with black socks and trim for the away. The Cobra jpg looks cool to me Sanguine.

I voted for the second "Admirals" because I didn't think the first "Admirals" was deserving.

Forest City would be interesting/funny if we could slap a Football Club at the end of it. Ie: Cleveland FC FC. Or even just FC FC.

I would love to see a badge designed for CFCFC.
I've always wanted to name a football club Ironside. A nice play on words, but unfortunately, the historical reference has nothing to do with Cleveland.

Is the nickname for cleveland "the Forest City"? Forest City is a decent name (a little euro-crotchsniffy, but not bad), but I didn't know that was the nickname.
Having watched the New York Apples, Forest City an improvement.

Steamers could work, with the blue collar lifestyle that the city has carried through the decades.
of course I can have banner fun once they'd come to Columbus--> the Stinkers :D
Columbus X Cleveland = The Industrial Cup? C & C soccer factory Cup?

BJ, I know Bulldogs is your personal favorite here, and appears at the moment to be the most popular choice among us. It is flattering that you've given Stokers the #2 position and that others have made it the runner-up. By now, everyone knows I've got a soft spot for the "original" nicknames, although I may be suffering from arrested development... reaching back for a bright spot from childhood or such. Still, it's working for the Earthquakes, Sounders, Whitecaps, Timbers at the moment... and it makes up for something dreadfully missing in North American pro soccer: a legacy. Some of the newer names in the "old" cities like Rhinos, Salty Dogs, DC United may be great, but the "originals" can work just as well here & there if a good argument can be made.
If the NFL shoots down "Bulldogs", then it's good that the names of former champ calibre sides of Stokers or Cobras are given a fair shot. I lean to the former, not only because the Stokers were winners on the pitch, but of the local historical significance: the stokers (firemen/coalmen) vital to the ships & trains that made Cleveland an industrial hub of the early-mid 20th century. Also a nod to the nationally significant NE Ohio clay & pottery industry of the 19th century. Stoke is the sister city of East Liverpool (ELHS are likewise called "the Potters"). Soccer heritage AND local history. Stokers beats Cobras there (Sorry, Vito!). Thanks for your consideration.
You getting this, Paul Garofolo?

What would the NFL have to do with the name "Bulldogs"?

I'm not really sure on that, but I know there was a team called the Canton Bulldogs...

Sy & MLS3: In recent years with the "retro" craze, leagues like the NFL & NBA have been quick to copyright names that used to belong to them strictly for "throw-back" merchandizing... Baltimore Bullets and Colts, Los Angeles Rams, Minneapolis Lakers and such... and in this case, the NFL Canton & Cleveland Bulldogs. Pretty certain they've got the Canton Bulldogs under wraps, not certain about the Cleveland version... but it wouldn't surprise me.

Nice post...for the record, I would like all 3 of the above monikers, much for the reasons you've stated....the trick would then be getting proper colors, jerseys, & marketing.....and honestly, I didn't put them in any order, other than when they came into my head while I was creating the poll :)

Remember the old hockey team in Cleveland.
I'd like to see em called the Cleveland Barons.

Why would Iron-Side not work?
Cleveland Iron-Side, and their logo will be those cranes they used to have on the dock to unload the iron ore.
I like that the best...the rest are just banal. By the way, Admirals used to be the Milwaukee minor league hockey team. don't know if they still exist though.

I would say let us have a new MLS team conform the the normality of what the MLS is. Do no use Cleveland FC or Forest City. This is not Europe. Keep it simple and fun. Something like the Cleveland Admirals or the Cleveland Force is what America knows. We are not trying to be like big brother Europe soccer. America needs to be one of its own. Do not copy the European style.
