I'll write in English because I feel bad not being able to use accent marks :-(

Granted I live in the United States, but I discovered BigSoccer.com after reading a sports illustrated (cnnsi.com) writer commenting about a website with a lots of soccer forums. It was Grant Wahl I believe.

I don't know if many Brazilian soccer fans would be interested in discussing futebol in English and via the internet. It would be nice to get the Brazil board livened up a little. The US boards are full of threads discussing tactics and strategy. Brazil has one of the best teams in the world and we should have some livelier threads!!!

They would probably be as bewildered by MLS and US soccer fans as I first was. Untill I visited BigSoccer.com, I had no idea that any Americans cared about Major League Soccer. It might be an eye-opening experience for them. I am going to ask my cousins in Brazil to check out this board. Unfortunately, they write English poorly but they can read a decent amount.

MigKiller,
Do you plan on keeping this forum mostly in English then?

Well, people can post in the language they want as long as it's one of 3 languages that Brazilian fans can understand in an international forum: portuguese, english and spanish, I would ask.

Who am I to impose an official language here in our forum. :)

Well..I am pretty sure there a quite a few non-Portuguese/Spanish speakers who like to read the posts in this forum. If we would get quite a few Brazilians to post here (more then likely in Portuguese), they (the non-Portuguese/spanish speakers) couldn't read the threads. Just trying to be sensitive.

I remember that column, I think it was the one he mentioned how he had posted here asking someone in Seattle to concede their home so he could watch a U.S. friendly. Eu descobri o BS atráves de um amigo meu. I dont know how search engines are built, but can we add BigSoccer to a Brazilian search engine's results under some Portuguese keywords like futebol, discussão, resultados, stuff like that? JonPall, to use accent marks, you can add the language you want by going to the control panel of your computer and then clicking on the "keyboard" and then on the "Language" tab.

I've been here since the beginning. Before MLS started all cities with teams started mail-lists. Then they became more organized as the teams got names and actually started playing games.

The Metro-Stars as the Revolution and the others had one or more non-official web-pages. The Metro-stars fans, Huss et al, started this Metro-Stars bulletin board. then there were boards for all MLS teams (was called soccerboards at the time).

The mail lists died and the boards have been growing ever since. Two Brazilian players have played for the Revolution Welton and Catê.

I found out about Big Soccer today. This is actually my first post. I saw a link in another forum (O Mais Querido). My team is Sao Paulo FC and I am a regular visitor there. One of the members posted a message about this site and so far I love it.

How did I find bigsoccer? I don't remember. It was in I think 2000. I think many Brazilians and South Americans and Mexicans "discovered" it at the same time - me, Various Styles, Chaski and a few others all seemed to have originally joined within 1 day of one another (my original join date was March of 2000, not 2002 - site crash deleted former user-name). Back then I remember Ombak, Moacir, Riotom9 and a few others and myself were the only real Selecao posters. Now it has grown and we have some very good posters and some discussion here and another good mod with Migkiller here. Before this, I didn't post much on footie - maybe excite.com every now and then but those boards weren't so great.

It is okay to speak Portuguese, Spanish, whatever you wish. There are translation services, specifically systran.com and babbelfish, that make it possible for non Portuguese speakers to translate the articles if they need to. I usually type in English since it's a US site and to be honest, my Portuguese is not so good. But I understand it well.

Everyone, Welcome to the website and enjoy!
